Hey guys I'm about to do a regular water change I was wondering is there anything else I should do right after or durning the change thanks!

What are your current tank parameters specially nitrite nitrate and ammonia .. I'm assuming your tank is quite new .. if it's in the cycle I would wait until your ammonia is at 0 as well as nitrite and only do a water change when your nitrates are high .. if your past that stage then a 10-15 % water change once a week .. making sure your using rodi water and warming it up to match your tank before adding it ..for regular WC I usually clean the inside of the glass before water change if needed , then check my parameters after an hr or so

Ok thank you and my nitrates are high I've had the tank for a couple monthes just was curious what other people do when they do a change

If you can you can always do a larger water change 20-25% too help reduce nitrates but it's all part of the process , your tank needs to stabilize and it just takes time .. it all works out in the end ..

Rinse or replace filter sponge and replace media (Carbon, Purigen, etc.) every few months. Clean the sump out every other water change, Clean powerheads, recalibrate Ph probes/temp probes, etc. Take a turkey baster (Before you change the water and filter) and blow the crevices of the live rock. Let the powerheads blow the detritus thru the filtration for a few minutes then change the sponge and water.

Those are a few things I like to do, I just set reminders on the apex and it lets me know when I need to perform a specific task for the week or month.

Thanks a lot everyone! Kinda different topic but why on some of my purple algae is kinda turning white?
