Wavemakers! Who needs them??

I have 1 mp10 in my solana.... Absolutely love it. Small footprint, no heat, and pulse mode for my nems :)

I have a Tunze stream hooked to a Vertex Mocean. I have not decided if they like it better with or without. Cant wait for MACNA to see these things in person! So many new things to look at, so little money to spend......:violin:

I run a mp40 with a koralia 1400 in my 60 and everything likes the chaotic flow can get with the two. I guess its similar to a wavemaker.

Oh and I have seen some great tanks with tunze wavemakers, but just dont want a big box in my own tank since I want all the room possible for corals

Agree 100%. Not the look i'm looking for either, but they definitely do the job intended.

I'm not running any wavemakers on my 75g sps system. I have two Tunze 6025, one maxijet & one hagen 402. They all run 24/7.......plus the return pipe.

There is laminar flow as well turbulent flow as some of the pump's flows collide & bounce off the tank walls.

You can get a penductor/eductor to raise flow inexpensively.

I used to have a closed loop with 2 sea swirls & two Tunze 6100s with the controller on my 120g sps & the corals didn't do any better than they do now. I sold all of that stuff. Lesson learned is, the corals don't care........... the inexpensive pumps will work as well. You can use a $15 timer if you want some on/off capabilities.

You can have a clean setup on a big tank with a couple of eductors & a closed loop with ball valves. The simplist system I saw, & the guy would just manually turn the ball valves when he thought about it every few days.

I run 3 x 6105 and a 1" sea swirl on my tank. I run one one pulse mode and makes a 2" wave you really see stuff stirred up and left in suspension to go down the overflow on a sps tank I see benefit it the most

100% vortech here.
Two 40's on each side and a 10 0n the back.
Have them set as a lagoon effect'
Using a tunze wave make box for the wave in the 120.
Before I used koralia's.
My sestem is a 75% sps and 25% lps and softies.
Since I use the vortech's my sps are having more PE and color and put up about 1" growth a month.
Also the customer service is out of this world from Ecotech, had a problem with one of the 40's and with no question ask they send me a whole new unit after 6 months of use.
NEVER go back to any other pump in my life.
Btw, can't wait to see the new line of vortech pumps at MACNA........................bluetooth controlled!

Thanks y'all and keep them coming. Enjoying all the feedback.

I had a MP10 fail on me. Ended up costing $80 and two months of my time waiting on them. As soon as you go a day over the one year warrenty they charge you to fix it and you will need fixing... That was the final straw with them for me. My tunze needed fixing after two years of use and it was fixed for free in a week. Been running solid for the past 3 years now.
