Picked up a few new zoas last night.

Rastas finally. Well one of them. Hate the thought of buying one polyp. Hopefully it grows.

What appear to be and were sold as Pink Mohawks (not sure what the other 2 are yet, they are super small.)

Not sure what these are yet. Going to see if anyone has an id after they grow a little bit.

Tank has been doing great. Came home from a week long camping trip and had no issues. I was worried. Glass was nasty, but that's about it. My smaller blue damsel was getting picked on before I left, when I came home I couldn't find him so I figured he had been murdered, well a few days after getting home I was looking at my overflow box and there he was lol. I did scoop him out and put him in my sump so he doesn't get picked on anymore. I think I will take him up to the LFS for a trade in.

I made a DIY ATO with the relay and a float switch with 1 gallon of water so that helped so the neighbor didn't have to do anything. Although it went thru the gallon before I got home.

Also got a new skimmer. Just cleaned it yesterday, been going for 2 weeks now. It was super dirty. This thing kicks way better butt than the cheapo I had before.

Going to try and move my GSP to the back glass and try and kill what I have on my rock. They grow to fast and take up precious zoa space.
Haven't started to kill yet. Was going to just make a big pancake of epoxy and then cover the rock and put mybzoas right on top.

Gotta get rid of all this. You can see where the big chunk I was able to get off was. The less bright green stuff doesn't peel off. Grrrr.

Think that's about it for now.

Great transition pics. Love the fact you're trying a little bit of everything and not getting to upset with the roadblocks that come up. Good luck and keep having fun :)

Thank! Hobbies have thier ups and downs. I've always loved fish tanks. Had numerous freshwater tanks through the years, this one however is my favorite.

Definitely hit some roadblocks here and there and lost some stuff, but I figure it's part of the hobby. Biggest thing I've learned is the simple process of researching first and see what other people had issues with and not follow suit haha. If it ever crashes I will start again. I'm hooked on reefing now. Although I have a bad habit of making weekly visits to the LFS.

Im happy with the progress of the tank and really enjoy finding new growth. Saltwater creatures/plants are fascinating.

Got a new light delivered this week. Ordered the Odyssea Quad T5HO 48" light. Huge difference between this and a single LED unit I was using. No real reason to switch back to T5, less cords and timers is the main thing. This has a single plug and a built in timer with 3 channels, 2 bulbs each on the first 2 channels and then it has some moonlight LEDs on it's own channel. Kinda nice to be able to program them all for different times. I don't like the legs it came with, they mount inside the tank and I have a glass top, so I can't mount it. Thinking about hanging it. I see they have hanger kits on eBay. Well see. Might just DIY something. Toying with the idea of taking the lids off, but I don't like the idea as I've lost a couple fish without a top.

Anyway. Just a few pics of how it's looking. I dig it.

I bought some Wavepoint bulbs. Well see how they do.
2 Super Blue and 2 Coral Wave. Thinking of getting another blue, but I'm not sure. I kinda like it. The pic is a little bluer than it actually is.

Here is 2 Coral Wave and 2 6500k (light comes with 4 6500k bulbs), I ordered 2 12000k bulbs, but they are lost in Indiana somewhere it looks like. Not enough blue for me.

That's all for now. Time to grow some corals.

Couple week update after my new T5's.

Everything is looking awesome.

I cut my Kenya tree off the rock and what do you know, I got 2 more stalks growing where I cut it! Kinda cool, but I don't want it there so I will have to get some frag plugs and do some more cutting soon.

Finally getting Coraline growing. Little pink spots popping up all over the place.

Found this little booger, aiptasia anemone, pretty sure he came from the blue zoas in front. I thought I got it off, but noooo. Now I gotta figure out how to get him out of there. Can't see it to well, it's the brown spot right behind the blue zoas.

And the FTS

Well we got bored and went shopping yesterday. Felt like cruising the city and going to some stores we don't normally go to. Found some nice looking zoas after checking 3 different shops around KC. Oh and I got a blue starfish.

Not sure if they have names or not.

First stop. Won't go back to this store again. Place is dirty and they try and rip you off, but I still found these in the cheap frag tanks, guy tried to sell them for more than what was listed on the tank. So many frags had aipstia on them and GHA. Second time in this store and neither trip did I leave with a good impression. Better believe these all got dipped! Oh and the guy was trying to tell me my overflow was going to flood my house cause it's on a siphon, and it's a bad idea and I shouldn't have done that. Trust me I've tested what happens. The place was over 30mins away so I couldn't waste the trip and not get anything.
My choices-
Thought these looked cool, long red skirts and spots all over. These gotta have a name.

These were pretty cool I thought also. Can't tell if they are bleached or just light colored, the others of this same type looked the same in different tanks also. This is the one he tried to rip me off on. Is it special or something?
46feaad414f2794f0abd5b95c0eb01dd.jpg

Then my girlfriends pick. Got a 2 for 1 here. Love little hitchhikers. I have seen these red ones before, but can't remember what they are. Close to my helms deep.

Second stop was my weekly go to. Was looking for the starfish, but they were out so we moved on.

Last stop, small store, but super friendly. Man and his daughter run the store. Being small I feel like they are very knowledgeable, the guy has halides on his tanks if that tells you anything, every other store I see uses LEDs which is perfectly fine, I just like seeing the other lights being used, feel like it's old technology which means it shows experience. I think the daughter handles the corals and fragging them, she offered to frag a big rock of dark pink zoas for us. She knows her stuff also. Second time in this shop and they have done a lot since the first time, will go back for sure . First time the guy gave me a handful of chaeto for free even. I feel like out of all the stores in KC that I've been to, this one is the one that is in it for the hobby and not the profit.

Anyway, got these. Almost got a sweet looking rainbow monti, but we passed.
I know these are jokers. Got 4 heads for $5! Couldn't pass it up.

These looked kinda neat, different and kinda ugly, but I like them.

That is all I got.

Glad to see things are starting to color up more, the light change also seems to have caused some stress. There for awhile everything was getting brown on me. Been working on keeping it clean. Got a little lazy with water changes and was only changing about 10% weekly, with heavy feedings. Skimming and watching my reef roid usage. [emoji3]
Also trying to figure out the best way to transition my new corals to my tank. LED's at the store to my T5's seem to cause a little stress. Almost like I have to much light for them.
I actually took out the 12k bulb and swapped it with another super blue.

Lots of coraline still growing on the rocks, glass and everything else. So that's exciting. Thinking I want to add some more rock to the tank. We'll see though.

Just a couple pics of some zoas that haven't been looking colorful until recently. Don't normally post them up cause they were kind of ugly. Really like my green ones, thought I had lost them. Hoping they take off one of these days.

I use coral glue 2 cover the aptasia. I had it once. Came with a chalice frag and was under it poking out. So pulled it from plug and skewered it in my QT then looked nothing and back. Then next day was there. So where it was I just put glue in every nook and no more. Was 1st aptasia experience in 3 yrs of reefing. I dip a lot

Also the siphon is a hazard but if uve got ur sump Lv right and use a primer there ok. (Primer is as the water runs by it causes a vaccuum)I'd look into drilling I have a 30g HOB and was goin 2 drill then used HOB siphon then took the science into play and wasn't worth the risk With a small tank. but my new 75g is getting drilled once I figure what return I'm using. Might use he ghost that was on here a day ago. And I believe those spotted zoas are galaxy's or something along those lines
