Hi All so my 18 month no water change tank recently send out an ATI icp test

And here’s the result
lab.atiaquaristik.com/share/e6d04d29935c922df283

Now here’s how my current tank look like

Test results showing 4K ppb iodine and 364ppm NO3

Does my tank look match’s this result!?

I had email back to ATI for a revalidation

All I have is 2 refugium and a ca reactor. I do not dose or add any trace elements but I do add home grown phytoplankton

Here’s some coral pics I have and kinda puzzle with the icp result and hoping someone can help with this.

Tbh mate, no offense, but I would be inclined to go with the machine that costs hundreds of thousands. Going by the look of your tank you are doing something wrong. I would start with water changes

May I humbly ask what did u see wrong?

Acro growth in 8 month

What my post was about is questions about my icp result don’t quite make sense to me. And wondering if anyone ever experience this type of result

Cuz I don’t really think i have 364 ppm no3 and 4000ppb iodine so wondering if a hundred of thousands machines will make mistake.

When it comes to acros I don't know a lot except they are very hard to keep. It couldve been an anomoly from that day you couldve had a spike for whatever reasons. If everything is doing good and youve got nothing dying off, don't worry about it and check again in 6 months.

Thanks u for the input on this
And I took the sample on a normal Friday morning ha

Here’s my build thread don’t know why my signature isn’t a hyperlink

Everything are good now so I’ll check it another time

Of subject a little here but how's your glass for scratches? A trim would hide all the uglies that build up around sand and stop your magnet from coming in contact with the sand.

Ahh it’s a second hand tank that I wasn’t aware of the scratches and I don’t really need to clean the glass a lot.

I’m actually not bothered by the ugly ha I kinda like to observe all those critters in my deep sand bed. It’s full of life in it

Tbh Alex I have never used a test kit that has a scale that high so wouldn’t know, but I believe no3 is not measured by the icp machine.
I would say human error

Yea me too like maybe it’s 36.4 lol
But kinda disappointed with a 45$ test kit

Cool they are obviously out so interested in seeing the reply

Me too so shocked seeing that ha
Wonder what high iodine will affect coral? I never noticed any abnormal now or maybe 4K iodine will grow out super strong sps lol

But a 364ppm no3 can keep my sps like that color?

NOPE. I bet your NO3 is NOT 364 ppm. I experimented on my tank when my NO3 was 300+ and PO4 was 3+. Acros lasted a week or two before the tissue peeled off their skeletons. There’s NO WAY your tank is that much. I don’t know how the guy above concluded you’re not doing water changes (I didn’t for about 1.5-2 years) and “you’re doing something wrong”... your tank looks pretty good.

Thanks yea I’m pretty sure it’s kinda impossible that I have 364 ppm no3

Waiting to see how ATI responses

I guess they say it’s true I have 4K ppb of iodine and 364ppm no3

Hello!

very likely there was a particle within the sampled water. This can cause very odd lab-readings, when the particle (a bit of algae, food, whatsoever) decomposes within the tube.

This is why filtration of environmental samples for lab analysis is very essential. See from 1:10 onwards: (only in german, but i think self-explanatory)

All the best,
Christoph

They tested both sample again and they say it is true. And I gather the sample right around 9am which there was no feeding yet. The water was from my sump section after the 100 micron filter sock and water was crystal clear. So they actually did 3 test one different vial and said it is true.
