with these grow-outs, has anyone found that by the time everyone gets their frags, the strain is no longer a rarity? i mean, by the time 20 people get 20 frags out of a couple polyps, they could become more mainstream, no?

That the point of the whole grow out? If everything goes well and everyone gets there 3-4 polyps everyone is happy and thats another 20 or so ppl with that Zoa. Which in return on SWF the ppl that get there frags have to offer the same price they paid for them when they sell them (IF they frag them) which should help bring the cost per polyp of those rare polyps down.

yeah, i understand how it works :p but, let's say you're #19 of 20. #13 is just getting their frag, and the neighbor down the street gets one at the LFS. and, by the time you get your frag, everyone in your club already has one they got for less than what you paid.

this is a hypothetical situation, and was just wondering if this has happened to anyone before. i'd like to get involved in one of these grow outs, but that would be my concern.

just curious :)

over on swf no one gets a frag until the colony is big enough to frag for everyone. That way hopefully the more polyps the colony is the more budding will happen and hopefully make the frag grow faster.

gotcha, rebel! that is the best way to do it. i've read the more space available around a polyp, the faster it will spread. if you put a polyp on a frag plug, would it grow polyps faster than a couple on a frag plug? hmmm

no need to answer i guess, unless you know :)

They were actually bought as Darth Mauls by the ZFA over on SWF. So they have been Darth Mauls, Nightmares and now RedWines, when will it all end?

But all in all there is a lot of common names refered to different zoas I notice depending on what site wants to call them what, I think I will stick with zoaID/coralpedia and theya re calling these Ngihtmares so I will also refer to them as such, at least for the time being.
you ahve to admit, some selloing sites call a zoa one name while another calls it by something else. I am happy to use ZoaID as a basis for common names and what is in a common name after all?
Call a bull snake a bull snake in the south and you will be argued with that it is a gopher snake. Same snake, Pituophus whether subspecies in the desert or pine forests.
