What are your dream dimensions for an aquarium?

I seen the elos. I'm probably just gonna have miracles do a custom when I'm ready. I wanna do my own stand. Aluminum.... industrial looking.

I think you and I are on the same page. Just got to convince the wife.

My wife has been joking about how much salt it would take for our pool (~9,000 gallons) which invariably turns to more serious discussion of how to equip it, how to deal with rainwater, etc.

I'll tell you what though, we'd be snorkeling a lot!

It won't happen, but it's fun to dream

Alot of salt

I looked into years ago. 13 pallets will do it. It's been awhile. 1 pallet = 700 gallons It also depends on materials used to build the pool etc. compatible with marine life etc. ( large sand filters and skimmers to start. ( living color in fort lauderdale will know) Fun to think about.

30' diameter, ranging from 1.5' to 30' depth. Probably a nice steep drop off. A viewing window for the drop off region. The shallow region I can just scuba in. I don't want deeper than 30' or else I'll have to do long safety stops to get back to the top when scuba diving. Have it lit by sunlight with a retractable roof that also has a built in skylight for the colder months.

Eurobraced 24 wide 48 long 18 deep Peninsula with coast to coast overflow on the width. Starfire 3 on sides. This is what my dreams are made of.

sand filter and skimmer was what we were discussing...

1 box of RC is 200G so i'd think a pallet was far more than 700...

ours is an in-ground aggregate - ~9,000 gallons, 3' shallow end 6' deep end.

The killer for us would be heating it. It's pretty cold in there in the winter months, even in Tampa. Loses a lot of heat with all that surface area.

If I could have a tank to scuba in ,I would

Bad memory on the salt. my bad. It was the cost of $700/pallet, not how many gallons it would make. Oops and this was over 10 years ago. aggregate would have to be sealed and yes heating would cost yah, but is do-able. Have you ever watched "Fish Tank Kings" They had an episode in the past where someone had an in the ground pool for saltwater fish in Florida. It was south of you, near Naples I think?? Oh yeah, the temperature at the bottom of the deep end will be warmer than the surface water. For instance, up north a lake freezes at the top and X amt. deep isn't anywhere that cold in temp. I think it's called thermal inversion. Now I'm an old guy who may have old timers syndrome.

Come on lottery!!!!

A modest size for the living room

This would be a nice size. Manageable too. With Metal Halides it would be easy to properly light 4' depth using 1000W ea. X ??? The catch, heat and electric bill. Other wise I would have to agree with the dimensions you have stated.

Have a good one:nerd:

I've got these "venturi" return jets in the pool, they act like penductors and pull additional water to multiply the flow - one marketing point is it moves warmer, sunlit water from the surface to the bottom to even out temperature gradients - should help here too.
