Anyone have a current pic of the Bayer they are using? I have read they changed packaging and didn't want to get the wrong one.

Following, I want to see what dips I should be using as well.

My LFS recommends Brightwell's Koral MD. It seems to work, but especially since I don't have a QT going for corals at the moment.. I want to increase the effectiveness of my dips.

Coral RX and Seachem

I use the bayer you can make it strong or weak it's good stuff and it's cheap

This is a great thread! I have used Coral Rx for years, however I don't find it aggressive enough, even at two or three times the dose. "Bayer" is not available in Canada so I am interested to see what other non-Bayer users are using!

You will want to look at the active ingredient (AI) in your home & garden store there for something to use.

Our Bayer Advanced product here contains 2 insecticides

1. Imidacloprid 0.72%

2. B-Cyfluthrin 0.36%

I don’t think Bayer has soul control of its patent for Imidacloprid antmore, so products should be available in Canada under different brand names.

Both of these insecticides are WIDELY used in the agriculture & structural pest control industries & both are very low in dermal toxicity. These products are used on our animals all the time, Imidacloprid is the AI used in one of our popular flea & tick control products that we apply on our cats and dogs backs in liquid form.

As a dip they are very safe to use (for us and our coral), me being in an industry that uses these products know that mixing heavier than product rates will control targeted pest better. I will mix 10 – 20 ml per cup and let sit 10 to 15 minutes. Then I dip just the plug in 100% peroxide 5 to 10 seconds trying to see bubbling then rinse and straight to frag rack.

So true. As far "toxicity" is concerned in our hobby, almost anything we dose, dips or additives to the water including the salt itself could be toxic if ingested I suppose. Like anything else, the use of common sense and a dash of prudence is advisable. I never looked at things like this as maybe someone with small children would who can rummage around in the tank stand, as it's just me and the Mrs.
+1 Can't stress more! use of common sense.

Bayer, never a problem. Just use gloves when using it. I would use gloves with any of them anyway.

In another forum I’ve heard Bauer will not get rid of AEFW. Some say Melafix is best for that.

Ime both do a good job at getting the worms off (with basting) but neither kill eggs. I prefered melafix because I don't have to be so careful (around children, dogs/cats, getting residue in the tank and harming inverts etc) like you do with bayer, but more importantly, it's clear so you can actually see what your doing. It also gets the worms off very quickly and I've never seen a coral respond negatively to the dip. I had a few acros that did not enjoy Bayer but it's normally very gentle.

I use Coral Rx and the girl at the LFS told me it was a bit harsh but I have had zero issue with it on LPS and SPS alike. Smells like pinesol to me!
For using Bayer....do you use the same dilution rate as is listed on the label??

I'm still looking for this at my local home improve stores. None carry it. As I said in the 1st post I'm using revive. Not too many others out there so this concerns me& why I asked.
