Yes....shallow is normally less than an inch while deep is usually more than 4 inches.

2 differing schools there The bare bottom (BB) peeps like the ease of maintenance . One of my tanks are BB The other school are for the more natural look. They can look pretty good!

Put it in cheese cloth for easy removal! I ghost fed my tank with live rock, and added live bacteria. Cycled extremely fast. With the bottle of live bacteria I never got any heavy spikes, but still waited 3 months to add fish.

When I say with live rock, I mean very little of it. Most of my rock was dry to start with. Find someone near by with a large fuge and ask them to cure your rock for you

I still use the shrimp method. At least I did 2 years ago when I restarted. A gfci trip while we were on vacation just wiped me completely out and when I restart in the fall I’ll do the same thing.

What do you mean little piece? Shrimp or live rock?

Hi Benny, You don't really need a big shrimp to kick off the cycle. Go too big , the thing can stink up the house ! Just a piece will work & baybe placed in a mesh bag or even a section of panty hose. This way You can get it out with out disintegrating.

I think in ten years from now, testing will be a thing of the past and calibrating also will be a thing of the past, will be very nice if we have an equipment that will test and recycle the reagents and never need calibration as the ones today. I know for sure the future of this hobby never looks more brilliant and enjoyable.

If this is a coral tank you might want to consider returning the prime and getting something a bit more powerful.

I'm using a hydra 26hd (which is basically two prime hd stick together) on a much smaller tank (85 litre) and it's about right.

However if you can't return it, you can always add one or two more primes in future and they will link together and run the same programme. [emoji41]

I am a reef noob. I used Dr Tims ammonia source to start my cycle. 32 gal biocube, 40 lbs of live sand, 25 pounds of reef saver dry rock, aqua vitro bacteria, tank cycled in 9 days. Dr Tims was cheap, easy, and CLEAN!
