In a display tank ? Wow just seems like a weird lookSome Folks go bare with no sand at all.
Put it in cheese cloth for easy removal! I ghost fed my tank with live rock, and added live bacteria. Cycled extremely fast. With the bottle of live bacteria I never got any heavy spikes, but still waited 3 months to add fish. Now with less live rock available cycling a tank seems like a challenge! I will use live sand and has anyone used the shrimp method for starting the cycle?
When I say with live rock, I mean very little of it. Most of my rock was dry to start with. Find someone near by with a large fuge and ask them to cure your rock for youPut it in cheese cloth for easy removal! I ghost fed my tank with live rock, and added live bacteria. I still use the shrimp method. At least I did 2 years ago when I restarted. A gfci trip while we were on vacation just wiped me completely out and when I restart in the fall I’ll do the same thing. Now with less live rock available cycling a tank seems like a challenge! What do you mean little piece? Shrimp or live rock?I use the shrimp method when I have the time withdry base & some live rock. I use a "little" piece now
Thank youHi Benny, You don't really need a big shrimp to kick off the cycle. Go too big , the thing can stink up the house ! Just a piece will work & baybe placed in a mesh bag or even a section of panty hose. This way You can get it out with out disintegrating.
