What do you LOVE about your reef?

Having had medium sized tanks for decades, I've really enjoyed the smaller size and simplicity of my current 12g:

I particularly enjoy viewing all the smaller inhabitants 'up close and personal' as well as observing the corals' interactions over an extended period of time.

Being able to play Mad Scientist again like when I was a kid, but this time it's for real. Being able to watch the corals grow in front of your eyes. I just wish I could afford a bigger tank.

I love sharing my tank with my husband, who had no interest in the hobby before me.

My tank is new and has had a few of the new tank problems (sick fish dying, corals not doing well), but I love working to make it better and having the r2r community help me.

I just like that it’s a thriving ecosystem that you can keep in your house and that you have the ability to ensure the creatures in your care have long and full lives.

I like that I can pull up a chair and if I let it, the stresses of the world melt away for a time.

Man I love so many things but since new found success with sps corals I have to say the coloring and encrusting of the sps frags has to be the top! When I turn the pumps off and look down to see the awesome colors of the corals I really get teary eyed! HA@

There is so much to like! I love my black bar chromis, so much that I have a trio in each of my reef tanks. They have neat behavior but my favorite is how they hide within the very intricate SPS colonies like they do in the wild and spawn regularly. They are small enough that they find pathways through my pukani rockwork so they are always popping out of some random place in the rock work like bad ***** who know all the secrets!

Is that a goniopora in the background? Looks amazing. Mine is having some troubles. Also where in northern Cali are you? I’m in SF

There are so many things I love about my tank!!! Seeing the progress of a healthy tank and seeing my coral and fish thriving is probably the best. I also love the countless things I need to do to keep my system going (great for my ADHD!). Finally, I love the great community this hobby and R2R has introduced me to!!
