Always set a rough time alarm of when I think 25 litre barrel of rodi will be made so can flush rodi then give 30 minute break then make another 25 litres, about one in every 5 times even with alarm I overflow rodi onto floor, usually only by couple minutes - 10 minutes I guess.( also need to time exactly how long takes rather than just guessing and after 1 year still keep forgetting to do it lol.

When siphon out the heater/ sponge section of my sump about 9/ 10 times forget to turn heaters off first then I'm like doh again the heaters are on and out the water yet again lol

Testing my parameters im not so good with as want to test day before wc and day after on weekly wc but end up testing once a month at best ha ha

Once a month I want to take sponge out my return pump and squeeze out/ squish around in water and clean impellar and also strip pump down and clean impellar on protein. Skimmer and powerheads but ends up being not often at all so need find a way of a reminder but then actually doing it but got a 2 seater couch in front of tank and need to completely slide it our way to open sump doors and long narrow living room where tank is so mrs doesn't like me " disrupting the house" when she is there but that's usually when I remember to do it so doesnt get done so tellyselc no big deal I will do it next wc but then forget 9/ 10 times lol

Oh, yes. I recently started working from the office again a couple days a week, and the very first thing I did on the first day back was forget to dose my daily NoPox before I left home.

I also recently got an Apple Watch and keep thinking I’m gonna set reminders for this kind of thing — at least until I finally get the dosing pumps I purchased in Feb set up lol

Jokes aside, I'm way better at setting reminders for myself now that I can verbally tell Google to do it. Even so much as a "remind me in 20 minutes to turn my canister filter back on" before I start my water change, just as a failsafe.

I turn off the filter while feeding corals to allow more time for the corals to uptake. If I dont set a timer for 10-15 or so I will completely forget to turn the filter back on, sometimes for a whole night/day. Needless to say I always turn on a timer now.

Here's an odd reminder. Everybody should check their salinity of new water with multiple devices.

I'm adding to taste said water prior to adding to tank. Recently I almost changed 4 gallons of water with fresh RO/DI. I noticed the fresh water was cold when I was adding it to my sump. My mixing station is in the basement and heat my SW. I tasted it and it was fresh. I wasn't thinking when I filled my bucket that I filled it with fresh and not salt.

Disaster was averted, but made me really think about not rushing things.

Are there things that slip your mind or that you need reminded of when it comes to reefing?

Could pertain to maintenance, chemistry, livestock or anything!

What's something you often forget to do?

Please give us some input!

Unplugging my heater when I put my hand in the tank

Last night I turned off the filter and powerhead to feed. I forgot to turn them back on until I noticed at lunch today. Fortunately there are no fish in the tank right now and all of the corals survived. Dodged a bullet!
I have done this before! Yikeys! Then searching and counting to make sure everyone is still alive is a bit stressful.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has done this. :-) I have done this a number of times with my freshwater tank. Only twice so far with my saltwater tank. I put everything on smart plugs so now I have the ease of an app but the app doesn't have timers so I still have to remember to turn the button back on in the app. I need reminders. I like what @fulltang said about Google reminders. I will have to start doing that. :-)

I'm in with the crowd that forgets to turn off the heater when doing a water change and sometimes forgetting to turn it back on. I'm also in with the crowd that has forgotten to turn the pumps/filters back on. The smart plug that everything is now plugged into has done wonders for me but I still have to remember to hit the "on" button in the app. LOL
