Patience. As a new reefer I was always told to be patient. 8 yrs in my wife has told me on more than one occasion remember it took you a long time to get to this point. It will be fine just need some patience.

I also need a check list for my daily tasks since I'm very limited on automation.

I don't think you are reefing, if things don't slip your mind once in awhile. For me, it's often forgetting little things like swapping socks or checking alk / cal levels more than once a week. I think at least 3, is important.

The fish don't let me forget to feed them.

Things tend to slip when I get busy with work and life. Sometimes it's a good thing. Provides a window into what I've been doing too much of. I remember coming back from a two week vacation a few years back. Glass was caked with algae. Scrubbing it off was like pulling back the curtain on a world of sparklingly healthy coral. I believe the build up of algae was just enough to suck up some stubborn nutrients and give the SPS / LPS coral an edge.

We can learn from anything in this hobby. Even from neglect.

I always seem to catch the ATO reservoir right as its empty but if I forget it reminds me with a big bubble storm.

The more automated I get the better it is for me. Just now getting ready to go add 20 gallons of top off water to the ATO. Lugging 5 gallon jugs all the way across the house. In the very near future I will run a ro/di line through the attic from my mixing station in the garage to auto top off the 20 gal auto top off reservoir. One less thing to forget.

My ReefDose reminds me when supplements revivors are running low. With out that it would be a mess.

I keep forgetting to fill the storage tank with RODI water when its empty...which means I have to make enough water for the regular reef tank water change AND make water to fill up the storage unit....which takes 8-12 hours depending on how new the RODI unit cartridge's are

Are there things that slip your mind or that you need reminded of when it comes to reefing?

Could pertain to maintenance, chemistry, livestock or anything!

What's something you often forget to do?

Please give us some input!

Cleaning the lenses on the lights occasionally always gets forgotten - oops almost a year!

I always forget to change my filter socks.

I'll hear them overflowing, then remember to change them. You would think after 20 years of a regular routine(like changing socks), you wouldn't forget. But I always do.
Me too in fact I think I’m at least 2 weeks in on my current ones.

Pretty much everything thats not automated yet! Seriously though lol
Really need doser and to set up some kind of alarm to let me know i need to make fresh rodi. While I'm at that I need alarm reminding me not to forget to turn ato back on after maintenance.
This right here.

I won't remember to dose anything by hand with 4 1/2 systems going.

Filter socks have a built in reminder feature that apparently is the overflow sound.

Turning back on the skimmer after feed time lockout.

Refilling ato jug. Luckily it reminds me at 2:00 a.m. pretty often when it starts shooting air into the tank in my bedroom.

I have to set my phone timer when I am making RODI water. I have overflowed the brute can more times than I can tell you. Luckily my water making and changing system is downstairs in the basement right next to a floor drain so it's not too bad. Still, it's embarrassing when my husband says, " do I hear water running somewhere?"
Float valve. But I did that often when the tank was up stairs
