I'm building a 40g breeder with 20g tall sump system and need ideas for an ato reservoir. I'd like something tall and narrow to fit behind the stand but the acrylic ones out there are very expensive. Does anyone have a less expensive alternative they use?
a 2.5 gallon kitty litter container. wide mouth, good capacity. worked great, not to heavy for the mrs. when full Gave me time to find a cool one to fit the space at an estate sale.

5 Gallon Synergy reservoir for my Lagoon 50
5 Gallon bucket for my frag tank
15 gallon barrel for my display

I bought a 7.5 gallon sturdy trash can from the store and it works nicely. Easy open lid for filling and for fitting the pump into. Only problem is when people come over and think its for trash haha.
I have the same thing just was 13 gal I had that problem with grand kids so I got one of the round table tops at Lowe's and painted it black and use as lid I glued a vase to it looks good on

My RO has its own storage tank so I never have to refill mine my ATO has a ATO. It's a diy with a float swith the tank holds 2 gallons. I do clean it a lot and change switch every 6 months since I have no safe guards and would hate add to much water and mess up my salinity.

On my 55g sumpless I had a 5g bucket in a round storage Ottoman next to the tank.

10g tank with a cover. I have room for bigger but it would have to be custom and I haven't felt like spending more. I miss when my tank was near the closet and I used a 44g brute. I could go forever without filling that thing up.

Not sure if this will work for you but its a 7 gal container and it comes in 5-6 different colors, paid 7 bucks

My actual container isn't special. It's a 20 long tank(it originally began with a 10 gallon), with lots level float switch, lights and two pumps. But the thing I like about mine is the hiding of it. I use an ottomam to hide all of the innards..

I use these collapsible Coleman containers. Probably the only 5 gallon containers I can fit through the doors on my stand.
