Alright so I have had my tank for about 4-5 months now and I am now starting to use frozen food since my LFS said it would be better than pellets. Shortly after I used frozen my goby jumped out and I tested my water conditions and it was due to me feeding too much. What exact amount should I feed 2 clownfish and a future goby?(in a 10g)
Or should I just use pellets?

Whatever they can eat in a few minutes with no leftovers.

You want a variety of foods to ensure the fish get a balanced diet. Think of frozen as the meat and pellets as the vegetables, it takes a bit of both. I would alternate between one cube of frozen one day and maybe 6-8 pellets the other.

Is leftovers an issue? Meaning as anyone failed victim to having their fish overeat.

the general rule of thumb is whatever they can can eat within a few minute I think. I'm awlful at overfeeding my fish so I'm not good at advising on that.
Depending on the type of frozen food you are getting can effect your nutrients. If you are buying frozen food from places like petco, it is best to thaw in a net in tank water and then dump it in the tank without that water to leave out all the extra additives. If you are buying a quality food like LFS fish frenzy or Rods is it ok to thaw and put everything in.

I’m not sure I understand what feeding too much has to do with your goby jumping out. Goby’s jumping is very normal. It is recommended to keep them in a tank with a lid for this reason.

Well the female clownfish I have is very mean and grabs almost all of the big pieces of frozen. However, when I do pellets they dont sink very well and the male gets most of them since he likes to swim near the return.

I have fish frenzy since that is what the lfs recomended.

well I checked my water and the nitrates were high so I thought that was the problem

I feed regular Mysis and give them as much as they can eat in about 30 seconds to 1 min.
If you see food floating around the tank after 1 min then you know you have fed too much.

feed once per day and turn all power heads / pumps off so they can catch it easier and nothing goes into the rocks or overflow

I might start with 1/4 cube for those 3 fish.

fish dont jump out because of water peramaters, they do it due to stress. the clowns were probably bullying the goby so it jumped out and died. just get a lid/ feed frozen food, pellets are bad for your fish. live brine shrimps is even better.

Alright thanks

I've been putting in minimal food and letting my fish eat that. (Like a 4 pellets). If it looks like they want more.. I drop a few more in. Once a couple pellets go astray.. I stop

This has also happen to me. Trick is put some tank water in a small cup add the pellets to that, and dump the pellet/water into the tank, this will cause the pellets to sink every time. I also use TDO pellets.

I have 2 clowns in a 20 with a cleaner shrimp and serpent star. I usually feed 2 pinches of flake, 10-15 pellets or a half cube of frozen a day to them. Seems like everyone gets some and the corals generally pick off leftovers as it gets blown around.

You can also get a "feeding ring" that basically corrals the pellets at the surface, so they can't go to the overflow. Once they absorb enough water, they sink. Fish also figure out where that ring is and will eat from the surface within it.

I have two adult clownfish and a sixline wrasse in a 29 gallon.

If they can't eat all the food within a minute then it is "too much" IME. Too much is a relative term, as other life forms may benefit from that food depending on what else is in the tank. When I feed pellets it is usually a 1/8th teaspoon daily, when I feed frozen cube food(formula one) it is one third up to one half a cube. I've been pushing more food recently to get nutrients up and target feeding corals.
