What fish could have possibly done this

I would say get a red flashlight. Wait a couple of hours after lights out, drop some food on the bottom near where you found him and wait.

You may just be surprised at what you see.

It is so odd as most fishes love being cleaned by a Bluestreak cleaner wrasse. It even felt good when mine picked at me when my hand was in the tank.

However, my clowns absolutely hated the poor thing and would chase it off all the time.

It is really hard to tell what fish did it if perturbed by its constant attention. If in fact, a fish did it.
true

oh wow didn’t know, gonna give this a try just out of curiosity

I'm telling ya it happened post-mortem and by a few of the inhabitants. You see it all the time at fish shops.
wondering what killed him, are these not supposed to live long?

Be careful. When I did that I found a Bobbit Worm. You'll never look at your tank the same again if you have one of those in there.

That thing look terrifying!

OP, be sure to share if anything does come up. I tend to lean towards the other comments of post death eating...

will do

I think Eat Breakfast is correct. Looks like such a clean bite though. Iv'e seen sharks do this boat side . Perfect, clean , Big ,bite !
Iv'e also seen dead fish missing the tummy section. Must be the best part .

Very typical of post death nibbling. Fish often scavenge and will eat at carcass from habit.
If there is a culprit, I could suggest entering another cleaner wrasse and observe behaviors/aggression from tankmates

Most likely clean up crew and fish picking at it. Completely normal. Sorry for your loss!

yeah that has to be it, just looked and couldn’t see anything weird in the tank
