What fish is your kryptonite?

The curious thing is that I mostly don’t have issues with leopard wrasses; I have nine in my display. It’s just the negrosensis that I cannot keep. Same thing happens .... fish arrives, gets acclimated in my QT and starts eating frozen. But then over the course of a month or two it slowly loses weight and dies. I’ve done deworming treatments ..... all the others do fine and maintain a healthy weight. It’s mystifying.

Well hopefully mine hangs in there. I'm approaching the end of month two and it still looks healthy, but has yet to accept frozen. Only pods all day long. Good think my tank has millions of them. Shine a red light in the tank at night and it looks like a snow globe of wiggly, twitchy life.

Achiles tang for me. They quarantined fine, ate easily but just kept getting white spot be it in q tank after treatment or in DT after intro.

Green Mandarin, had 2 now and both died, beautiful fish, going to wait now till this new setup of mine reaches 2yrs old, tried with one Mandarin in this tank after it matured for a year guess that wasn't long enough even with feeding live pods at night.

Killed 2 Flame Angels... have my third in QT right now.. he's been solid for 2 months now, hoping to xfer soon. Also killed 3 Yellow Tangs, I'm sure I'll try that again.

I have three:
Jawfish - tried a couple bluespotted and three yellowhead. Only one made it out of QT and died a couple weeks later
Yellowtail damsels - I'm not kidding either. I've tried like ten and NONE have made it through QT for more than a week
Yellow Prawn goby - tried 4 and none out of QT for more than 2 weeks

It's crazy because damsels are indestructible. Oh well. I do have a lot of tangs, wrasses and such that made it just fine.

Sunburst anthias.... I've tried 4 times at 60$ a fish. It seems like I can get them eating baby brine, then I keep them for about a month in quarantine eating. Then the y random get sick and die after all of my work.

Anthias are WHIPMS! :)

Mine is also freshwater... German blue ram cichlids. Twice I've bought 6 fry at a time, raised them to 7-8 months old only to have them die inexplicably. This picture was taken the day before this one died. No visible signs of illness and eating well one day, dead the next. I will never buy more no matter how pretty they are.

I had 2 Harelquin Tusks. I had each for about 2 years and they both went blind. I fed both high quality LRS food, grocery store clams, mussels, etc. The first died after biting a lionfish spine (blind and missed the food when it was feeding time), the other died from a velvet outbreak, but he was blind as well.

They are too expensive and beautiful for me to risk it again.

Convict tangs, both 40g and 75g have no luck getting them pass one month. Had 2 in 75g that got rid of all my diatom algae and then one dead.

Personally I haven’t found a single person to keep one over a few months. I’ve read they do not do well in captivity. They are absolutely beautiful tho!
I have one and now I regret it! It’s not reef save it messes with my corals on the sand bottom and is hard to capture!! It’s been in my tank for more then six months... every time I try to capture it borrows into the sand you can have it if you can help me fish it out!! It’s my last resort lol

Purple queen anthias, but they are nearly impossible for most.

Funny, I used to have problems keeping neons too, but right now I have 3 of them and 3 ember tetras for over 2 years now in a little 5g planted, and I do nothing special, and I kinda trip out that they are all still there.

Clown tang here as well, i’v lost 2, they just seem to freak out when I put in my tank, hide in corner, don’t eat, and die after a week or so.
It’s the only fish I have ever lost in my tank under a year.
I say in my tank cause I lost a sand sifting goby who jumped out at night before I had a cover.

for whatever reason i cant keep a lawnmower blenny alive for longer than a few weeks, don't know why, I've got plenty of algae

For me it's the Bangaii cardinal. Tried 4 with no success. Get them to eat well the bam they're stuck to the overflow.
