Quite possibly, check the claw shape. Emeralds can be "hairy" too.looks to be a gorilla crab, definitely get rid of that
I can’t tell if the black in the picture below is the nem behind it or if it’s the top of the claws.Quite possibly, check the claw shape. Emeralds can be "hairy" too.
I have got a better picture of it now. There is 2 of them.the strange black thing in the hole looks like an urchin to me.
Hard to tell which one but to me looks like thick banded spines which would react touch pointing/closing on the object touching it.
Thanks for the reply.looks to be a gorilla crab, definitely get rid of that
Sump crab, post locally if anyone wants it for curiosity sake or a FOWLR. Otherwise, leave the bucket outside in the cold at night and I'm sure that is no less humane than other methods. Thanks for the reply.
it does look more like a gorilla crab now I have other angles of it shown if different reply’s.
Here’s a question for you,
How to you humanely get rid of critters like this?
I’m in the hobby because I enjoy having aquatic life in my living room so you ‘get rid’ of something is never fun for me.
I know the science behind inverts but still prefer to do things humane.
might be a question for a different post but it’s worth an ask
Thank you.
I have a neon green one that has literally spread to every corner of my tank…i would like to know what dictates them spreading or not!

Growing on the glass it pumps is kinda neat but they’re also growing right next to several of my corals, which i don’t care for. Better than aptaisia i suppose!I actually like that lol. Especially because its easy to kill them if you need to
I usually put a bit of tank water in a plastic bag, add the creature, then freeze it in the freezer. I've read cold is the least painful form of death for aquatic creaturesThanks for the reply.
