What have you found does not make sense in this hobby?

No Jeff, the miyagi tort.

We'll, it's alive and growing, and that's good. The mother colony at Aquarium is brown now as well. I think too much blue, and/or too many nutrients. Mine is high and gets tons of white, five hours solid at 100%.

My only guess is that it might purge some of the excess zooxanthellae and brighten up with some more white light. Just a guess though.

Bounce mushrooms............500.00 clown fish....100 a polp zoas. You know the general insane prices on somethings...that often are not better.

You crazy!! LOL!
haha...your just getting that? lol.:D

Heres another one that I just dont get. Placing Mushrooms.

I tried the glue:confused:. I tried the rubber band:oops:. I tried the dish.

What I found was the best way was to negotiate.
When they jump off the rock, I glued, banded and dished them in. I set them gently in a spot they might like more.
Floats off.
...
"Oh, you didn't like that one that I had to take the tank apart to find you???"

"OK.Here's another spot. Aww, look you stuck! well gosh, Im sooo glad you like that one.o_O

And nems. Don't even get me started on nems.......:)

Knowledge at most, it's very easy to find innacurate information and people swearing by it that just make my brains hurt, I mean, I know it's the hobbiest fault, but it's also a lot of lfs, facebook and sites online promoting it, I consider myself a responsible lfs owner, try to teach everyone and refuse to sell livestock that I know it's hard to keep or need special requirements to people new to the hobby, I instead encourage them to read from reliable sources and understand what they're getting into, but the guy next door sells anything regardless of the experience of the hobbiest, then I found a lot of threads asking how to cure ich-velvet, why the nem died, or if a Dyi led fixture is enough to grow corals, it's just dissincouragging most of the time, but still, here we are in one of the most addicting hobbies...for the love of the sea.

The Coral Market... $100 Polyps are just ridiculous, and people buy em which keeps the prices inflated.

...and don't get me going on coral names and SPS sales. Two frags of the same exact coral, lit differently over time, become two different names and twice the gouge. Throw in a little photoshop and over saturation, and we're all the biggest suckers ever.
+1 on this. The name game has gotten ridiculous. I see the same corals being named different names and having different prices. I've seen a vendor (not on here) take a picture and tweak the colors of the photo, name it something else, and price it differently. It even had the same snail in the same spot in the picture. SMH

Maybe not much in a reef but adding "electric" to any name of any specimen you are trying to aquire instantly jacks up the price.

It's the equivalent of adding the word "tactical" to anything in the firearm universe.

Bounce mushrooms............500.00 clown fish....100 a polp zoas. You know the general insane prices on somethings...that often are not better.

Usually a genetic mutation or hybrid which is usually not as healthy. There is a reason 99% of clownfish look the same, then there is the one "inbred" one who has inverse colors.

$300 sumps that I just built out of $1 per gallon sale at petco over the weekend
The word ecotech in front of anything adds $200 to the price
MDF stands.....need I say more.....the threat of a 1000 lbs tank falling over
Last but not least Live rock....and the fact that Im paying by the pound for rock thats half water wieght

How about adding Jason fox in front of a frag?
I don't know the guy and I respect him for what he has done and his corals are very nice but come on 200 dollars is added with just two letters tagged to the frag J and F
Hey this is a JF jack-o-lantern on sale for ur first born child.
I also can't stand that my fish have better food and water then I eat and drink every day.
Wireless power heads that have wires
Controller prices
Testing equipment prices
People who ask for help after they have made the same mistake 49 times before and then act like we can't look it the title of every thread they have started and then get mad at u when u call them out on their stupidity
Waters free and so is rock but we pay for it a lot for it
That as soon as u buy something new in this hobby the price drops faster then when u buy a new car and drive it off the lot
And last diseases running rampant thru every fish importer and nothing being done about it

Also petcos managment

Hey have fun in this hobby btw and welcome to r2r

Tri colour tangs that to me look like diseased fish with something like HLLE and costing up to £3000 here in the UK. A lady in an LFS was heard to say to her boyfriend “what's wrong with that fish” while pointing to a awful looking (to me) tri colour tang with a price of £2000 on it. I think she got I right.

"PM for price"

I can't say it doesn't make sense, as I think I understand it perfectly. I just can't stand what lay behind it.
I won't buy from people who state this. Not quite sure what they've got to hide except for maybe prices from their competitors.
