Saw this yellow at a store. I have seen a lot of diseases but never this. Waaaat?

Probably this?:

But that fish looks so bad, hope it can survive it.

Temp didn't fluctuate at all to my knowledge. I'll ask the store owner.

I don't see how it's a gas bubble though - ive seen those. This is....different.

I honestly never seen something like this before, might be internal infection but I doubt it. The fish looks overly inflated like its a balloon so probably something went wrong with pressure, maybe the bag it was shipped in was over pressurized and then opening the bag caused it to depressurize and inflate. You can also notice the top fin, it looks like air is trapped between both side and caused it to inflate.

The gas bubble disease is in the same vein for sure but none of the images are this severe.

I feel like it's something else?

If those were gas bubbles, wouldn't the fish be floating like a cork?

I'd venture a guess that they're filled with some sort of fluid. Bizarre, though. Poor guy.

This is absolutely nuts. I'd really like to add this to my pictorial guide, I'm just not sure where exactly it should go.

I'll go back to the store and see what is going on today. I will keep this thread updated - for great science! Pics are fair use.

Wow that's truly unique and sad. This one is over my head!!

Maybe some sort of crazy abscesses? Poor thing...

I wonder if he maybe had a run-in with something venomous in his travels? I've never seen anything like that.

Are there any corals/nems in the tank with it? I'm wondering if it might have gotten stung and suffered an allergic reaction; possibly even from a toxin in the water. Poor thing might need a Benadryl. ;)

Nope - just yellow tangs.

None of the other tangs are displaying these symptoms either.
