What is a good refugium light?

I'm currently using this fluval sea light on my refugium and I'm not getting any growth. It's been running for a few months now and some of the macro algae is turning white. It's in your basic 10g tank. What lights have you used that have been successful at growing macro algae?

Four 6500k 100w eq. CFL bulbs for $12.97 and I use a $10 clamp on gooseneck fixture with a plastic hood. Ideal daylight color temp and grows chaeto like weeds. Lowes or HD and other places have them and sure you could even find a 1 or 2 pack.

I use a Kessil Tuna Sun over mine. You can find them on this site sometimes. I have a Tuna Blue for sale Many people on the site have also had good results with HD or Lowe's stock bulbs with a reflector.

I've been told about using HD and Lowe's lights before. I'll probably try that first

I had that same fluval light for months almost a year and very little growth. I changed to a Philips Par 38 i think the 100w 5000k light. Bought one of those aluminum clip gooseneck thst painters use at HD and man my cheato exploded. Was trimming cheato back every two weeks. Like crazy!!

Yup, I was killing cheto with the twisty bulb because I didn't have enough nutrients. But since I put this light on 3 months ago cheto hasn't died yet.

I use this bulb on both my refugiums.
Been using it for more than 2 years.

Red leds in the 660nm range. Growth will surprise you.
