What is "dull" anyways?

A big school of cpds would be awesome in a tank like that! Endlers are one of my favorite fish as well and there very very underrated.

Yup...sadly...I've kept and bred many killies over the years...I did like Epiplatys species; I had a few live pretty long live spans...On the other hands, I recall Cynolebias that looked "elderly" after just 2 months...craziness.

It happens because they are adapted to living in bodies of water that are not permanent. As the time approaches and their home would be drying up (or is), they are made to spawn and pass on as their pond does. Their eggs survive and wait out the dry spell, then hatch and start the cycle again when conditions are favorable. :)
Personally, I like longer-lived fish, but it's pretty neat what they do.

Scott the L-264 gets around 5 1/2", but most of the others normally stay under 3" like the infamous Zebra pleco and the King Tiger pleco.
