What is on my fish?

I'm not entirely certain - I'm perplexed. Perhaps @Lionfish Lair will chime in, or @melypr1985 has seen something like this at the store.

I'll keep researching though. If I had to take a stab at it, I would try either a formalin or acriflavine bath next.

That resembles those "bubbles" that I had on the group of yellow tangs a while back. that's what it makes me think of. Those were taken care of with kanaplex. It would be worth a try. Not sure if I would subject the fish to formalin just yet.

Didn't see these posts in time. I did a formalin dip, but it did nothing. He ate right after treatment and I am feeding small amounts every 2 hours. Hopefully this will fatten him up. He is eating LRS (grated with cheese grater), Reef Nutrition's Arcti Pods, Beta Brine, Mysis Feast.

Iwill have to get some kanaplex and try it. I will give it a few days to try and fatten him up first before doing any more treatments. He is a fighter, just keep on swimming and eating which is good.

With regards to how thin he is, have you seen any stringy white poop come out of him?

I have been watching for it but have not seen him poop yet.

Update:
Fish does have stringy poo so started dosing prazi-pro. I think it may also have Brooklynella. I have been seeing what looks similar to this picture, (taken from the fish disease index), but not quite as bad. Maybe the formalin dip I did when fish first arrived helped and so I didn't notice it until a few days ago. I have Acriflavine MS on hand, so my plan is to start dosing it in QT tank. Can this be used with Prazi-pro? I am also doing TTM so should I go ahead and transfer to clean tank now before starting Acriflavine? BTW the "thing" on it's back is till there also. Thanks for all the help!

@MrsBugmaster Formalin or acriflavine can clear brook; but it should be administered as a bath treatment (in a bucket or small aquarium), and then the fish is transferred into a clean/sterile QT afterwards to prevent reinfection. If treating brook "in tank" then the best medication to use is metro: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/metronidazole.298762/

You should also be soaking metro in food to treat the intestinal worms (white stringy poop). Dosing Prazipro works better on external worms like flukes & turbellarians.

What would the dosage be for bath in acriflavine? The bottle has directions for in tank use or bath for eggs. How much and how long for a bath?

For Acriflavine-MS, dose 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons of water. Keep the fish in that bath solution for 90 minutes.

@Humblefish , Do I give this bath one time only or how often?

You may have to do more than one bath several days apart, however, if you do the bath and transfer into a sterile QT you can then treat with metroplex in that QT and hopefully shouldn't need another bath.

Acriflavine is not as effective as formalin for clearing brook, so sometimes more than one bath is needed. What I've gotten into a habit of doing is immediately dosing metro in the QT (after the bath) to take care of any lingering brook issues.
