What is Something You'd Redo with Your Tank?

I would have started with dry rock. Unfortunately I was under a time crunch so I wasn’t able to do that and now I’m fighting aiptasia and bubble algae

Other than a size upgrade, I would have re-thought my fish list and introduced them in stages to avoid aggression.

I would have not filled the pool with chlorinated water !!! Or dug a moat around the house and had it flow thru the living room display tank lol!!!

If I could redo something, I would start with a bigger tank, knowing I'd get this addicted lol!

Organization in the cabinet. I have to move my tank this year due to a remodel in my kitchen/Livingroom so I am preparing to take a day and make it all nice in there.

22 gallon nano if I could do it again I would definitely drill the tank. If I reboot the tank I will drill it and add a larger sump I have the eshopps nano sump 27 liters one liter short of 7 gallons would have gone 10 to 15 gallons for more room. But the tank has met my vision for it when started. But wasn’t easy I learned a lot. I also would not have gotten a Japanese pistol shrimp has killed three watchmen globes and tore up my small torch garden. We tolerate we other now and my clowns seem to keep him confined under my main Zoe rock garden.

Upsize - This is the biggest one and every day I look at this 16g cube and kick myself. I've had FW tanks for years so I know more water = usually easier to manage. Plus, now that I know more about the saltwater side, there's fish and coral I want that would be impractical in this tank

Better Light - I bought a 50 dollar light off Amazon. It worked okay, but you get what you pay for.

Better Aquascape - My Aquascape is fine as it is, but I should of did more with smaller rocks versus 4 -5 big pieces. Really limits what I can have as the main rockwork of the tank is in high flow/high light. My inexperience makes me worried about putting SPS there since I am still working on the tank's stability.

Aiptasis form what I hear is a nightmare, burn them with fire lol

Started dry rock, my old LFS screwed me over.

Currently am fighting bad GHA and dinos

If I could have, I would have gone to my new LFS from the start, and probably used liverock and sand.

I didn't plan for light mounting properly, and with a euro-brace tank it's been an issue.
So I would have made some changes to how I built my stand in order to integrate light mount arms behind the tank.

I would have also chosen different rock. My dry rock is working out fine but the rock I went with didn't aquascape too wonderfully. With all the corals growing into the rock now though it's too late to change. Not a huge issue though as things will of course start looking a lot different soon, now that my frags are starting to grow out into full colonies.

I would have gone a different direction with my lighting. Lighting for a 72'x24"x24"is pretty big bucks so I cheaped out and went black box to save $1600 or more. I wish I would have spent the money just for the controllability aspect. They are growing coral very nicely, but its 2 channel - each ON or OFF.

Although it sounds you are growing fairly well, I must agree being able to fine tune you lighting can make a big difference.
