What is the Best RO/DI Filter?

What is the best RO/DI filter for the money? I am looking for a RO/Di filter that produces 50 gallons a day or more. I believe my city water uses chlorine as a disinfectant, not chloramine, but not 100% sure. I have tested my tape water and it reads 15 ppm nitrate.

I am not looking for the cheapest filter, but don't want to spend more than needed.

I am concidering the 4 stage filter from BRS. It is about $100 less then spectrapure. Another one that has been suggested is AquaFX Barracuda, which is $150 less than spectrapure.
From the reviews I have read it sounds like Spectrapure is the best, but they cost a lot more than other options. Are any of the less costly options worth looking into, or just suck it up and spend the money for Spectrapure?

I have a BRS. But I here that the Spectrapure RO membrane has the highest rejection rate. Now if you have tap water with a TDS of less than 100, the difference might not be a big deal. My RO membrane takes 140 tds water and puts out 2 tds water which is pretty good. I think the Spectrapure membrane would put out 1 tds water in my system. So the consumption of DI resin would be half what it is.

I have a vertex something or other, no issues thus far with 3 years of use. I also had a AquaFx for many years and never had an issue, the only reason I replaced it was due to moving and somehow losing it in the process.....

Can't justify the cost of the spectrapure my tank is only 38 gallons.
I went with the 4 stage BRS value plus filter.
I will use it for a few weeks and post how well it works.

dang i was just asking what system i should get today between the 5 or 6 because i have chloramine and roughly 500 TDS. Guess ill be getting the 6 and plenty of filters lol

My Spectrapure membrane takes my 241 TDS down to 0-1 which is just awesome. Now I'm sure this would vary a little depending on what's in your water but I'm 2+ years in and have no need to replace it yet.

i tried to find reviews for the marine depot kleanwater advance 6 stage RODI, but i have the chance to scoop one up for 135. wondering if it looks in good condition nothing broken if i should hop on it.

Do you know how old the system is? Ideally you would want to replace most/all the filters in it regardless so you'd still be looking at paying close to $200 depending on which filters need replacing.

he said only 40-50 gallons have been ran through it. If thats the amount i end up spending i might as well put a extra 85 investment into the BRS brand i was looking at ;Bored

I think it comes down to how much you trust the seller. If you can take him at his word it was only 50 gallons, then it's a steal. If not, and you want to replace every filter in the unit(probably not the membrane) then it might be worth atleast looking into the cost of that and do a comparison.

I'm so conflicted I feel like it's a good deal and he's a rated seller. I was cant find any reviews on the brand and my water has a high amount of TDS, like 500 high so I just want to make sure whatever rodi I buy gets the job done

Having high TDS can make things difficult for sure. Honestly you're probably going to have to spend a fair bit investing in some good filters anyway and that used 6 stage might actually be a good starting point. Is $135 as low as they will go? As far as reviews, really all RODI systems are pretty much the same on the outside as far as quality goes, it's what's inside them that sets them apart.

Yea I already talked em down 40. I think I'll just get that and hook it up and just test to see where the TDS at since it has the monitor. Worst case i just have to buy new and better filters with the 150$ i saved from not buying a brand new BRS
