What is the biggest risks in this hobby ?

I think lack of QT is far and away the biggest risk in this hobby. I'm not sure it's even debatable. I suppose one could argue lack of a gfci in that it could actually kill you, but that's incredibly rare.

Sustainability of wild caught/harvested fish and coral reefs. There needs to be more advancements in breeding/fragging. The high cost drives people from the hobby or entering the hobby. Reefing is definitely a 1st world hobby. I wonder what the average cost of starting and sustaining a reef system is per year.

Getting or giving the wrong advice to someone that causes a major issue.

Im finding many are affected by Winter shipping which is obviously a risk with weather and potential delays.
While it can be accomplished successfully, there are many posts since December of delays and lost shipments.

Another would be skipping the quarantine protocol all together.

I just had this happen Sunday- Thank goodness my RO unit is in the basement with drains. New carpet got slightly wet but I have an extractor thank goodness.

Just out of frame to the left is the 55 gallon ATO drum with low and high level sensors, float valve and an Apex LLS... I make "extra" water one time and mess it up. Luckily it is in the the basement and no chance for damage.

BUSINESS TRIPS

Only away 1 week of every 6, but something always happens. Power outage, equipment problem, coral fall, over feed, under feed, etc. My wife is afraid to go near the tank now when I'm away lol.
Setting up an online cam for next trip.

Upcoming vacation has me really stressing. Tank is still new so too much that can go wrong.
