What is this purple stuff on my rock?

Picture is a bit fuzzy. It could be coralline. Could be red algae. Need a better pic. I'll see what I can find that may be it

If it was always there from purchase it could be paint, sometimes the rock is painted to look like coralline so that it's not as ugly while the coralline is actually growing

No, it wasn't there on purchase. I examin my specimens/rocks very carefully! What causes coralline algae or red algae

Well coralline algae is good, you want that. I'm not sure what causes either though

Its not coraline algae. It is red and grows kinda like little spiky sps . I don't know what it is but I've got em.

I agree, I have them as well. Coralines are flat and grow in round patches.
