Can someone tell me what this is and if I can or need to do something about it?

Looks like a vermitid snail or two. Did you notice slime threads coming off them while in the tank? You can try to crazy glue shut the openings or just manually remove them. Just be careful, they look pretty mature and might be harder than the frogspawn skeleton.

hi,is it soft ? does it move?

Vermetid snail and a big one. Also at a place that's hard to snip off....good luck. The glue trick may work but I seen the the big ones just make another tunnel elsewhere.

Vertimid! i had a huge one like that on my coral too. take a box cutter blade and pry it off. Should come off as a whole piece because it's pretty thick and sturdy

I do believe that the dark brown thing is a vertimid snail. But how about the orangy thing

Yes there was stringy slime stuff coming off it. I did try to scrap off the snail and it is super hard! I am wondering what the orangy thing is as well. Or maybe that is what you are referring to?

OMG is it really?? Here I thought it was something completely different. I have had the dark reddish brown snails but didn't know that they could be that color. That thing is pretty big....uggghhh!

lol I had the same reaction. Here's mine from a while back! It was on the backside of my coral and I was wondering why it wasn;t doing well for so long.

if you can't pry it off, you can try getting a pair of needle nose pliers and just destroying the shell from the top down. The worm lives at the base so you can try to dig it out when you get there or put superglue over the whole thing like someone else previously suggested.

Yeah that's what it looks! I guess I will give it a little more effort to pry or chip it off. Thanks for the help!

That looks like something you would find in Haight and Ashbury in San Francisco. Sorry, couldn't resist. Totally not helpful, but comedic at least. :)

You know when I started this whole saltwater aquarium adventure I did not sign up for all the weird " I will have to dig it out" things OR the " What in the heck is that thing reaching out of the Acan Coral?!?" which we are currently mystified by right now as well!!

What? A turd on the sidewalk?

Edit: not trying to make some stupid partisan
anti-California joke, SF is probably my favorite American city, it was just low hanging fruit.
