I watched some videos of a lamprey swimming, at least in all of the videos I watched this did not resemble a lamprey when it swims.

Poured it into a jar, I had some trouble getting the camera to focus since its dark outside here so I hope its possible to see something, will try to get a better flashlight!

Watching a video the body looks like a bloodworm

21" into the second video you can see it very clearly. Looks like some form a bristle worm for sure. No idea as to what kind though.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that's not the only one living in the tank

It could be, but I have never seen a bristleworm swim around the top. I also see them swim low toward the bottom.

put it on a hook and throw it in the ocean...looks like some good bait. There needs to be law and order in a tank lol...cant go around attacking other fish and end up with a new tank

When I say bristleworm, it's a gross generalization. Looking at this article Smithsonianmag.com there are over 10,000 species of polychaetes.

I have quite a few normal size bristle worms and at times they'll come out when I feed. But I've never seen one go after a fish and they for sure don't move that fast.

I agree with the lord of IDs, @KJ . It is clearly a worm. I have seen several people post this same sort of thing, and it always turned out to be some sort of "bristle" worm of one type or another. So no, everyone, it is not a lamprey. Just a nasty looking worm.

Thanks for all the replies this far! I still have it in a bucket on my patio so I will try to get a cleaner pic of it when and if it calms down. Right now its doing laps like crazy trying to get away.
It moved through my tank crazy fast before I could net it.

Yes, I am very dizzy right now but I think it's a lamprey.

....despite the fact that it uses the bristles like fins and swims like a dang fish, it's a worm.
It's my least favorite worm ever.
