Hagfish will ooze huge amounts of slime when stressed, doubt its that.

I was thinking that too but the pics I saw of the larval form are too eerily similar to rule it out.

throw a piece of meaty food in there and record how it reacts. Something sizable like a chunk of shrimp or scallop if you have

You see so many threads with similar titles "What is this worm?!". You click expecting a bristleworm, maybe a spaghetti worm, sometimes a peanut worm...occasionally cerith snail eggs... This time I'm sorry I clicked but totally fascinated too. Can't wait to see the final ID. Love the hitchhiker forum!

The lfs that sold it didnt specify, on their webpage it says "from Bali, Indoneisa, Australia or Red sea" so I think it depends on the supplier.
I have had alot of hitchhikers and pests, since this thing has hidden for 6 months I guess there could be more suprises lurking. Right now I have a yellow Coris wrasse missing.
