It's been getting worse as of late and I'm not sure what it is exactly, I've been trying to get rid of it via just steoping up maintenance but it's not working. It's on the sand, rock and corals. It seems to bother the sps and zoa but dosnt phase the lps much.

Could be a cyano , but if the corals are reacting to it possibly a dino.

Are you running an aggressive granular carbon ?

Keep blowing it off into the socks and mech filters.

No carbon right at the moment, should I be to help this? I usually do run it in a bag in the sump but i ran out a month ago and haven't gotten more.

Im not sure if it is cyano, its not really red its pretty close to the color in the pictures and dosnt cover stuff like cyano its stringy, plus I tried chemi-clean already and it did nothing to it (this has in the past gotten rid of cyano for me)

I'd grab some gac , if the organism is putting out toxins it will pull them out.
It may also help remove whatever is feeding it like excess organics.

And changes besides that that may have spurred it?
Vibrant , carbon dosing , a new spectrum or light , a new food?

Its been present in my tank for a while but in the back or some obscure corner and never an issue. I have been changing a few things recently as im currently learning how to grow SPS. I have started dosing the KZ coral colors system and have been working my light levels up slowly. This seems to have come out of nowhere tho as i have been at those two things for a few weeks now.

Any other #reefsquad members have any ideas on what this could be?

This looks a lot like some dino's I was fighting for awhile.

Do you have any macro algae that is growing slower or have you noticed that your glass is staying cleaner longer?

I'd look at what the KZ product contains. I'd guess aminos and quit possible organic carbons as well as inorganic carbons the organism may be able to use and likely soured the bloom.

Good luck dude.

Good call on this.

I would stop using Component 3 if you are. This one contains both aminos and organics. The other 3 products in the KZ series look like they only have trace elements.

I wouldn't use any of that.
No reason for it really.

Everything you need is in the food and salt already.
You just need to supplement alk an cal. There's usually enough mag in those mixes already already too.

Jus sayin.

I know and the sps was growing but the color was sooooo pale compared to what it should be, after i started dosing the KZ system there has been steady increases in coloration.

I have macro algae and it has been growing slow and yeah i suppose my glass does stay clean a bit longer.

Another thing is that on my birds nest it had caused a bit of tissue loss whatever this stuff is.

I can't speak intellegentely on the other trace elements but I would still stop using Part 3. It likely isn't helping your color and will definitely fuel bacteria in the like.

I would stop the Part 3 which may fix it on its own. I ended up adding an Iron supplement and within 3 days the macro algae in my fuge took off and I haven't seen the dino's since. Getting an iron limited tank is a little unusual but not unheard of.

Run some gac. It'll pull out the toxins and the KZ.

Sounds like you need to feed more.

I think its cyano? I'd stop dosing.

What kind of lights do you have? Do you use RO/DI? How often do you do water changes and how much? How long has it been running and what size of tank. What are the rest of your water parameters?

Its a 20g tank with a total system volume around 30g and has been up for a year and a half.
I use RODI that i make myslef 0tds
WC are once a week but less as of late as my No3 never seems to come off 0-5 ppm
Lights are 2 kessil a360we running at 35% currently but on an acclimation cycle that is slowly bumping them up.
Perams:
Alk 8-9 dkh (kalk wasser)
Cal 450
Mg 1500
Sal 1.26
Po4 O
Temp 78-79
Ph swings 8.1-8.3
