What is this???

So remove them all when I see them? And they can sting corals?
How have you been managing with the hydroids? Did they sting your corals from what you can tell? I’m dealing with the same thing. Heres one circled. I only have a handful of mushrooms in the system and they seem good (no obvious stings) As the pods are increasing, I’m noticing less of the hydroids. Perhaps they are competing for the same resources and can starve them out faster if you add more pods… that and manual removal as others said. I’ve read that a wrasse will eat these guys too. Good luck! Hope we are both rid of hydroids soon

From what I can tell the corals don’t look like there being stinged, I have some ricordias, hammers, chalices, and a few Acans in the tank and they all look fine. From what I’ve read they will hopefully die off as the tank ages, but for now I just scrape them off the glass and try to guide them to the over flow pretty much every day. It’s pretty odd they’re mostly on the glass so it’s not too hard to try and remove them. Im pretty sure I’m seeing a small decrease in the population. I should get some more pods and see if your idea works. They’re pretty weird creatures I haven’t been too worried about them since they don’t bother anything but still want to get rid of them. It’s pretty funny what you said about the wrasse, I have a clown in the tank and every time I clean the glass and the hydroids fly off the glass the clown swims over and slurps them up lol. He seems to enjoy them so I don’t worry about it much. Here’s the tank the coral look fine to me. Keep me updated and let me know if the pods work.

You’re reef looks happy to me! It’s beautiful! My experience with the hydroids has mirrored yours, completely benign for now. I also caught my clown munching them from off the glass before, kinda cool! Thank you for your detailed response. I’ll let you know if anything changes with the status of my hydroids!
