How many times do you buy said problem Coral before you give up trying and vow never to buy it again?

Like 10 times lol. I gave a friend a frag to hold for me and they grow like weeds for me but anywhere I put them they seem to melt away after a month or 2

My clementines are the one zoa that I always kill.

I had never seen the Clementine until your post. Just checked them out and am in love with them. I need to find some.

If it is Zoanthids in general that are all dying maybe you are getting Zoanthid Eating Nudibranches or Zoa POX?

Do you dip for Corals and check for Pests or Pox?

There are so many people that keep Zoanthids and they are considered very very easy to keep so I am guessing that you are having a problem with one of the two or both possibly.

5yrs reefing! Definitely would know if it were pests or pox. Wrong guess. I know plenty reefers who cannot keep them either

I struggled with chalices for awhile. Now they are doing ok for me. My suggestion would be get a mycedium, they are alot less sensitive and can indicate if your tank params are good for chalices. They range alot in whether they like flow or light though, and they like high mg++. Seem to prefer dirty or higher nutrient water like in zoa tanks too.

Zoas and chalices grow pretty well together when you have the "right" conditions.

I just read that Chalice prefer mag levels in the 1400+ range. I just got my first one and it's already receding. Tested my mag and it was at 1360. I'm raising it We'll see.

I keep chalices with mag below 1400 and mine do fine.

Started with about 5 eyes and now has a lot.

Acans. I'm not sure why I keep them for awhile and then something happens. Also montis. I bought a sunset and my hydnophoria killed it. Then I bought a purple haze monti that had encrusted with sunset. Worked out for awhile I moved it to another tank connected to the same sump was white and dead the next am. I just bought another frag of sunset glued it in place and hopefully all goes well.

I know plenty of Reefers that have been Reefing that long and do not know about Pests or POX.

Have you tried Paly's.

They are a lot easier than Zoanthids.

I have never had a Paly Die on me before but have lost Zoanthids.

Try Dipping them in Bayer.

Mine do the same thing and just start receeding.

Bayer stops them from receeding.

They do like High Magnesium.

Mine did best when my Magnesium was 1600-1700 I need to raise mine too.

Plus it helps with Algae too.

Dip the Chalice in Bayer right away before you loose it.

The one that is left is good now, but I think it was all a light acclimation malfunction. Try starting them in less light next try. I'm learning there are a few that are very sensitive to too much light too fast.

Ice fire acros is my problem coral. Tried twice now both gone in a day or 2. I think both were just bad apples though. I will try again some day...

I've tried everywhere. I've even taken my par meter and placed at the same par as people that do good and nothing. I got a new tank now and will give them a try again but in my old tanks it's tried and done

They are so odd sometimes. I had some hyper candies that were doing very well in my frag tank. From 2p to 7p and I decided to move them from my frag tank to my display. The systems are plumbed together so exact same parameters. I also have a par meter and placed them in a comparable spot in my display. They looked great for 2 days, then all of a sudden closed up and melting on the third day. Gone completely by the 5th day.
