What is your favorite element?

It's a paradox. I like my elements natural, not fake. It's such a heavy inquisition, but after a split decision, Uranium takes the cake.

Can you explain why?
Their uses are numerous and all of them are super cool
Copy paste for wiki for time saving

“The devices lanthanide elements are used in include superconductors, samarium-cobalt and neodymium-iron-boron high-flux rare-earth magnets, magnesium alloys, electronic polishers, refining catalysts and hybrid car components (primarily batteries and magnets).[88] Lanthanide ions are used as the active ions in luminescent materials used in optoelectronics applications, most notably the Nd:YAG laser. Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers are significant devices in optical-fiber communication systems. Phosphors with lanthanide dopants are also widely used in cathode-ray tube technology such as television sets. The earliest color television CRTs had a poor-quality red; europium as a phosphor dopant made good red phosphors possible. Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) spheres can act as tunable microwave resonators.

Lanthanide oxides are mixed with tungsten to improve their high temperature properties for TIG welding, replacing thorium, which was mildly hazardous to work with. Many defense-related products also use lanthanide elements such as night-vision goggles and rangefinders. The SPY-1 radar used in some Aegis equipped warships, and the hybrid propulsion system of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers all use rare earth magnets in critical capacities”

and then as a glassblower, the numerous crazy effects that you can get when doping glass color with lanthanides is amazing. Everything from UV glow in various colors, to glass that changes color based on the spectrum of light it’s viewed under.

Lanthanides are amazing all around!

I LOVE GOOOOLLLDDD!

Let’s have some fun!

What is your favorite element, and why?

I’ll start different threads in upcoming days on least favorites, as well as chemicals (as different than elements; phosphate is a chemical, P and O in phosphate are elements).

You might like gold or platinum for looks, helium for balloons, lawrencium if your name is Lawrence, etc.

So what’s your favorite element?
5th element

K potassium. Stored in oil because it has a violent reaction when it comes in contact with water. I was a TA for my high school chemistry department. Ask me how I know.

Are some people forgetting the difference between elements and compounds?
If it's not on the periodic table it's a compound ;) Like THC
Skipped the compound class because of the THC.:face-with-tears-of-joy:
