Acanthos and torches. Love the sticks too, but they are often so temperamental for me. Sticks on the top torches in the middle and acans on the bottom. My perfect tank.

My two high end chalice corals. Jellybean and Rainbow Crush. I was really nervous at first about lighting, flow and of course the cost, but they are studs. Maybe not "go to" but I am now confident that they will grow well in my current setup. The Jellybean is growing before my eyes. I have had him for a month.

I think this thread provides a valuable lesson for reefers of all levels. Go with what works for you. People use a myriad of different lighting, dosing and filtration options. Each reefer develops their " go to" coral options that thrive in their unique systems. I feel that recognizing "yours" will save people $ and heartache in this hobby.

Photosynthetic gorgonians are amazing and relatively easy to care for if provided with enough light and flow. They do have some specific "tastes" when it comes to trace elements if I remember correctly.

My eldest daughter came over last night and was amazed at the progress of my mini reef. She asked me why I didn't set up individual small systems for each frag species and manipulate parameters for each to maximize growth and coloration. I laughed

Blue-green sympodium. Like a particularly pretty cross between blue clove polyps, rainbow encrusting monti, and GSP, except it grows at maybe montipora pace at most. I'm not sure why it isn't more popular. Maybe it just isn't well-known?
