I wish i did not get algae on the glass all the time. Parameters are good. just wish there was a way to keep the glass cleaner for at least a week!

A week? Crazy talk. If I don’t have to scrub the glass every other day I consider the tank too clean and I feed more.

Red turf algae! It’s growing on my overflow and power heads. Now starting on the rock a bit. I thought it was Cyanobacteria at first, but this stuff will not come off or suction up like cyano does.

Pincushion and tuxedo urchins are especially fond of red turf. If you don’t have a nano tank I’d pick a few up and they’ll take care of it and keep it managed. Just make sure your frags and rocks are glued down well

At diffent times in the past it's been green hair algae, turf algae, cyano, aiptasia, and vermetid snails. All of those easy compared to what I have now. Dinos, specifically ostreopsis! Wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.

Oh no. I wish they were. They come out at night and I find them crawling on my corals. They go from great PE to stark white skeleton left behind them. I posted a thread on here a while ago and nobody could provide a positive ID. I even gave some to a friend and he experimented with them. As soon as he dropped a frag in with them they would be all over it eating the polyps I guess. Here's a pic of a birdsnest where I pulled one of the whelks off.

I’ve got them pretty well nipped in the butt now. But they wrecked a blue milliepora, green slimer, and a giant monti cap before I recognized they were the problem. I didn’t know what was going on with the coral initially and I (along with everyone else) thought they were eating the algae. WRONG! Lol

Zoa eating nudi branch and BHA. Gotta Mela wrasse for the nudi, hopefully that helps. Don’t wanna be putting my hands in the tank to much to pick them off. Ugh!

Those of you with vermatids...

A Halichoeres or Pseudocheilinus wrasse (or both, multiples of halichoeres), will clear those right up. They absolutely love to munch on them. And not like a butterfly MAY munch on aiptasia, those wrasses will decimate a population of vermatids 99% of the time. At least anywhere they can reach them. They’re a natural predator and it’s an easy and desirable food source for them

I have a melanurus and yellow coris.

I did have a mystery wrasse in my last tank along with the other two and maybe he kept the snails in check.
