What killed my fish?

It could be possible toxins from the frog or just the the frog rotting away. I could see that causing a decent amount of ammonia.

Seeing it's very possible the fish loss might have been from a poisonous or ammonia causing frog, I would black molly test this DT before adding anything expensive: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/fallow-periods-going-fishless.190324/page-2#post-2855190

Edit: Make sure you run carbon for a few days first to remove any leftover toxins.

I didn't see where the op was located I assumed they were local which was a foolish assumption. I'm sure there are plenty of poisonous frogs in the southern US

They may not be poisonous but they make my daschunds slobber. They never learn.
