What kind of pump do I need?

Normally that would be fine, but given where its being set up if something does go wrong it will be hard to fix once the whole tank is filled with water. Unless theres a way to ensure there wont be an issue later.

I am not trolling I am attempting to find a solution to a problem that will allow me to not have to empty the tank of water just to fix a problem that may arise in the back of the tank in an area which I cannot reach easily.

You can drill holes in the bottom, sides and back, you can also have overflows on the side too. If you have room to pump it down why is there not enough room to put a drain line? You can use hob filters and skimmers too. To pump water down and pump it back up is not going to work. You are either going to overflow your tank or overflow your sump.

How do you plan on doing maintenance on this tank? It looks like you are very space limited with top access, also.

If you are willing to keep things very simple you could put a heater, live rock, and a powerhead into your tank with no other filtration. Keep a very light bio load and do regular water changes.

I didn't think about just using rock for filtration. General maintenance I can do though, given its a bow front , I can open the front of it and access what I need without much of an issue. its once I try to get into the back though is when things get a bit tight.

If you keep your bio load light there isn't a reason it shouldn't work. Not having a skimmer is less than ideal imo, but can be made up for with regular water changes.

Its an option for sure. I was hoping to have filtration and extra water volume in the sump and stuff though.
