What RO/DI unit are you currently using in 2019?

I use BRS - but there are some great deals on amazon from brands like Fountainhead. If I was shopping again - I would just buy off amazon because it’s so much cheaper.

I started with a RO Buddy RO unit with a DIY 2 canister DI filter. Switched the membrane out for a Dow 75 GPD and the accompanying restriction orifice. Then I cobbled together some BRS canisters to turn it into a 7 stage 150 GPD unit. It now goes 5 micron filter, 1 micron filter, carbon block, 2 pass RO, and then 2 canisters of DI resin.

What RO/DI unit are you currently using and why did you choose it?

From BRS: Aquarium reverse osmosis systems are an economical, convenient way to put consistently pure water into your reef aquarium without running to the store to buy RO or distilled water. Your reef tank will certainly benefit from the installation of RODI systems, carbon blockers, and sediment filters, to name a few. Tap water, even when treated, will still contain traces of impurities, microorganisms, disinfection byproducts, inorganic chemicals, organic chemicals, and radionuclides. Although it is safe for people to ingest, this may not always apply to other species; especially reef tank residents like corals, exotic fish, and other invertebrates. Risks that come with exposing your reef tank's inhabitants to untreated, unfiltered water can be easily prevented by installing the right reef aquarium filtration system.

I like distilled H2O, Here in Socal I found 2 companies that provide real ocean for pennies on the dollar. So now ocean water. Just store and use when needed. And corals love it.

Airwaterice 75g/day 4 stage , been using it over 11 years. Have only changed the membrane once and the other filters once a year. TDS always 0, helps that my tap water TDS is usually less than 35 I guess.

Using a LiquaGen Portable Aquarium-Countertop Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System-DI/RO : 4 Stage System Membrane 100gpd. Bought it off amazon for 62.00 and water comes out 0 tds. Had a problem plugging up the first 2 filters in about three months due to the bad water and company sent me 2 new filters free.

Starting a new 280 gallon and decided to use the 7 stage RO/DI 150 gallon per day from BRS. I live in south Florida. You can smell the chlorine in the tap water, they use chloramines as well. I want to start off with as close to perfect water as possible. Plus the 150 gpd unit has 2 RO membranes and cuts down on the waste water significantly compared to the 75 or 100 gpd units having only 1 membrane.

I have a 8 year old BRS 5 stage unit with a water saver kit and extra DI canister and a booster pump. I make about 75 gallons a week. I have rainwater most times of the year. In-comming TDS is around 8 after our home filtration.(80 micron, 25 micron, 5 micron, 1 micron, 25 micron carbon, UV) If we have a drought and we have to buy water, then the filters get a work out. Purchased water is around 250 TDS. In the spring when the oaks have a lot of pollen, our rainwater tank is like a giant tea bag. We have to change sediment filters for the home every 2 weeks. I change the RO/DI sediment filters at the same time.

I bought the bits and made my own 7 stage with twin membrane and twin DI resin with 2 twin tds meters and several pressure gauges and auto knock off of the twin storage barrels.

I purchased an AquaFx barracuda Glacial 100GPD. The system seems very well made and was recommended by my LFS. the whole unit is on an aluminum frame. The price point was under $300 with pressure pump, TDS, Bypass, Low pressure shutoff switch and gauge. Their support is fantastic. I called them and they were very quick to help me out. I get very low TDS before the DI filter and I get a bit better than 100GPH at 80Psi.

Not sure the brand but got a 4 stage Rodi system in a package deal when I purchased my tank from a guy that his wife was making him sell out because he was spending too much money.

With this system my water bill went up by about $40 a month plus was getting tired of running the Rodi 6 hours just so I could do a 20% water change each week

Upgraded to the 100 GPD and ended up buying BRS water saver upgrade so now my water bill is down to about $20 less a month than it was.

I still need to hook up the booster pump that I bought as well. I'm curious to see if a 15 PSI boost will help any
