What RODI unit?

If you over-restrict membranes plumbed in series with no regard for the feedwater quality, there a pretty good chance you will shorten the life on the RO membranes. But if you have feedwater like the OP, no worries.

I get it now.

Thank you

My next purchase will be a RODI system. What system can you all recommend that I get. I am also looking to get the water saver add on to reduce waste water.
Thanks,
Darren
Been using Buckeye Field Supply, now Buckeye Hydro for 10 years. Quality gear AND if you call, Russ takes the time to help figure out the ideal components for your use/setup. Highly recommend!

Just picked up a gauge to test water pressure, 80 psi is the result. I don't think I need a pump...

80 out of your tap is really impressive!

Let me actually revise this statement. Its 80 psi out of the spigot on the side of my house where I will be connecting the RODI unit too. I think if I tested the water out of my kitchen sink it would be less for sure. Probably will test it out of my clothing washer outlet too as I may use that in the colder months.

And your dynamic pressure (pressure while you are running the RO) may be lower than your static pressure, but yes... 80 psi is higher than most.

I've had my spectrapure system since 2009 and generally repurchase all filters from them. I added a 5th stage in about 2012. Their maxcap/silicabuster setup works really well IMO.

I am finally making water. Purchased the Buckeye 75 GPD premium system. I am currently operating at 70 PSI with 39 TDS in and 0 TDS out. I changed the flow restrictor from the supplied 75 GPD to a 50 GPD and am producing 1 gallon of RODI water to 2 gallons of waste water. I was very concerned about producing a lot of waste water and am overjoyed with this ratio. I am saving the waste water into a rain barrel for my wife to use with her gardening. Overall I am very happy at this time with my purchase from Buckeye. Thanks everyone for all your help and input. By the weekend I should have enough water to mix up and fill my system to get the cycle started.

I'd chance it and go for the 36 gpd FR (yellow). You are certainly under 1 grain per gallon hardness. Worse that could happen is a shortened membrane life.

Russ

Contrary to what we consider misinformation promoted by a popular vendor, you DO NOT need a second membrane housing, and second membrane, and second set of fittings, etc to create a "water saver" system. None of that, nor an overly restrictive flow restrictor is recommended/appropriate unless you have naturally soft, or softened water.

Sounds like it is working perfectly for you.

Just to make sure I’m correct the 75 gpd system came with a green FR the other ones I purchased 50 and 36 are yellow marked 36 and another green one marked 50. Is the 50 and 75 the same color or do I not have the proper 75 or 50?
