D-D H2Ocean Magnesium Pro Plus, great water and we've never had a problem
I just switched over to this salt and am really liking it!! Love that its levels are neutral... Don't have to adjust my dosing and worry about any levels rising... Corals seem happier also... Just picked up the big bucket on Friday from Marine Depot.

DSP, if it was just Seachems reef salt and not Salanity, then you were still using IO Reef Crystals. You would be surprised how many different salt mixes are IO.
I started with reef crystals used for 2years then ended up getting a bad batch one day so I switched to seachem reef salt and hated it because it made my water cloudy. So I recently switched back to reef crystals

Found this few months ago when I am researching salt mixes. I use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals.

I got another bucket of TMP salt. Pretty much mixed like the 1st 200g bucket: ca 425, alk 6.9 dkh, mg 1300. Perfect for me. I dose carbon so the alk is right on.

Are you completely dry mixing the salt bucket first? I've been dumping my salt in a small Rubbermaid container and really mixing it up with my hands. Seem to get better TM consistency but I'm using Bio actif.

I do take the plastic bag out of the bucket for the 200g and mix the salt pretty well, but I have gotten just fine consistency with both buckets I have used. TMP according to the label (which I don't have with me) mixes to natural saltwater levels and if I remember the label that was around 450ca, 7-8dkh and 1350 mg. The numbers I got considering test kit error, user error and other factors is pretty close to label IMO. I just test every bucket once to make sure I didn't get a strange off batch. I heard posts about tmp with alk of 4 and ca of 300 range, so I test a new mix at least once to make sure it's within label claims. I don't expect it to be perfect every time, just not crazy.

Over the years I have used IO, RC, Ocieanic, Kent, Aqua Craft, SeaChem's reef salt as well as Salinity and Coralife. Since Salinity came on the market it has been my salt of choice, however cost and the fact that I still have to dose is making me reconsider this. The poll shows what the hobby has been doing for years IO/RC leading the way. If you look at the bulk of "great tanks" in the U.S. it seems to be one of those two salts. With Red Sea bringing Coral Pro to market it has gotten a lot of support, the whole Coral Pro line seems to be well received. I went away from the IO/RC line due to that Brown film of impurities, never got that with a SeaChem product. I'll give RSCP a try but may devise a way to filter the impurities out of IO and have a few bucks for new frags

I used all kind of salts in the past but since last year i'm attached with Fritz, the parameters are very similar to TM pro and mix very clear. The parameters are not crazy high like other brands but if you dose that's what you want.

Agreed! Same here. Mixes like a dream compared to some & the parameters are great ... 8.5 alk all day long.

I like that it mixed to a 8.5 alk (what i keep my reef at). What other parameters does it measure to? And what online retailer carries it or would you recommend? I've tried Kent and have been using RC for years, and would like to try something new

As posted in another similar thread, here is a recent ICP analysis of some salts. In French, but chem. Abbreviations are universal.

How is Bioactiv Different from their Regular and Pro Salts?

It includes organics...What the organics are is a mystery and proprietary. There are other salts which do it as well hw-marinemix for example.

I have used the following salts:

Kent Maine : Disliked had to run polyfilter always due to high heavy metals
Salinity : Good salt but expensive and you absolutely have to roll the bucket.
Oceanic : Ok salt nothing special to note
Fritz Reef Pro : Awesome salt! Currently using. Mixes consistently every time. Reasonably cheap, $45 a 200g box. Mixes up for me at 420 calc, alk of 8.5, mag of 1350 @ SG 1.024. The only thing I dose is Acro Power amino acids and I run a calcium reactor.

I started with Reef Crystals, Switched to Tropic Marin Pro Reef about 6 months ago, and am now using Tropic Marin Bio Actif. I mix at 35ppt and get 8.3dkh, 425cal and 1280mg with red sea Pro test kits. When I do a 15g Water Change on my 125g corals never react or close up an the Skimmer foam head never even collapses.
