What salt mix do you use?

I'm going to order a Red Sea Calcium Pro kit! Just ordered the Red Sea Nitrate Pro and new T5's ;).

I am no expert by any means and I use Kent salt mix. Used reef crystal since 2000 but just recently settled for this new salt after trying a few others. It mixes clean and leaves no residues on your holding tank

I just tested the Alkalinity and it was at 7.392 and the Cal is at 580. I've probably done at least 60g of water changes since my tank finished cycling at the end of October! I just did a 5g change this morning!

I'd just add some alkalinity and not worry about the salt mix. RC usually has well over 10 dKH. :)

My lfs sells this, it seems to run just a bit more $ wise than reef crystals, but not much.

Red Sea Coral Pro but I'm thinking of changing, mixes cloudy, then clears then seems to cloud when powerheads hit it again. And before you say it yes I mix to Red Sea's instructions/demo

My IORC seem to mix very clear and I don't see to much in the way of residue left behind. I wonder if I have a bad bucket of salt mix. I might do an alk and cal check on the water I mixed up a couple of days ago just to see what it reads.

I've used reef crystals from the get go (tank is 3 years old) and have been happy with it. My LFS sells the 200 gallon box for $39. As stated earlier be sure to mix your salt thoroughly in attempt to get a consistent mix. I get the 200 gallon box which comes in 50 gallon bags, empty a bag into a 5 gallon bucket and then have my 3 year old son roll the bucket up and down the hall a good bit:)

Lol, that's a great way to put that little grocery burner to work ;). My youngest is 25 and 6'3", I don't think I could talk him into rolling a bucket around for me. Seriously though, that's a great idea. I was wondering how the salt in the 200lb boxes were packaged. $39 is a great price.

Regular Instant Ocean here. The big things for me is it doesn't have anything I don't want like organics or high elevated parameters. It's easier to add then remove. Plus, it's cheap and always on sale.

What difference have you noticed since you switched and why did you decide to switch? Thanks!

I noticed a local reefer on here (can't remember who it was) said it is the salt that he uses. I read an old article and decided to try it.

I made a few changes/upgrades to my sump/skimmer during that time (within a few months) so I can't point to any specific differences attributed to just the salt. But there hasn't been any noticeable negative difference either.
