I'm just curious, what social media do you actually use, and what do you use it for?

I use Facebook for the reefkeeping groups, Instagram for the reels (oversaturated coral and just for some mindless laughs) but that's about it.

What do you use?

Only thing I get on and read is Reddit I left Facebook over 10 years ago best decision I ever made. Never used any of the others outside MySpace.

I miss MySpace... Gone but not forgotten!
I never even used MySpace.
I should clarify my statement some, I'm not a total tech-phob!
We used CC mail in college before email, I had a page on Angelfire, and I even met my wife in a Yahoo chat ;)
I just never was a fan of the social media platforms as they came out, they make my head hurt!

I’m only on fb, but am tired of it. I tried IG, but all the fakeness and lewdness is a big put off for me. My observation is that most forum users aren’t on much social media much, and most social media users aren’t on forums. Sorta like saltwater vs freshwater hobbyists.

I'm noticing some similar trends. The people on most forums, and the people in most of the reef related social media groups don't tend to have as much overlap as I thought!

Yeah, I think people mostly come here to get away from social media, but also the format is different. With a forum, you can’t lose your place when looking for something if you know how to use it. Plus everything is organized into categories. In social media, everything is lumped together, and it’s a lot more random and harder to find what you are looking for. I see social media as more for entertainment, and forums as a reference for info. Though shenanigans sometimes happen here as well. Lol!

Facebook for some fishing, archaeology groups, local events and keeping up with friends. But block more groups/suggestions currently. The local FB reef groups were dead before they started.

I use old school style message boards more often like R2R and a couple fishing ones.

I don't use any of them. None. I've become so cynical towards Social Media that I guided both my children away from them. They are an example of the Internet Natives that actually don't use any of it.

Absolutely none by choice.

FB if it is the only means of product support, which IMHO is an insanely poor choice of mechanisms for customer support. It is poorly organized, has no search or semblance of order and the interface absolutely sucks.
