What test kit for magnesium do you use?

Unless there's a possibility of having contaminants in your magnesium there's no reason to go "very slow". Tank inhabitants seem unphased even by jumps of several hundred PPM.
Fsu, if you want to be on the safe side bump it up to 1300+ over the course of a few days. Raising it that much will require a lot of magnesium supplement so don't think you're going to get a bottle of supplement from the LFS and be done with it. It would take you 4 of the big bottles of tech M to boost 100 gallons to proper levels. So, unless you have a very small tank you might want to look into home made supplements.
Thanks guys....yeah i only have a 29 biocube so bringing levels up will be a piece of cake. I just did a water change yesterday and will be checking all my parameters after work to see what needs to be dosed and how much...I bought the Magnesium Sup from Brightwell. I use their cal/alk and Vitamin C on a regular basis and have been very pleased with their products. I have also read that Magnesium can be raised rather quickly without any effects....so if it is still low i will dose heavy over the next few days....so far though the Salifert Mg test has been pretty good!!
