While trying to figure out what my anenome is doing (apparently he’s pooping…) this thing came out from under the rock. He looked like a centipede or something! What is this mystical scary creature? Omg there’s two of them! One came out all the way and he’s about 6” long IMG_2959.png IMG_2961.jpeg

There’s one on top of the rock trying to eat some algae.

Bristle worm, ok if not in crazy quantities.
Grossest thing ever lol It looks like they’re under a couple of the rocks. Do they clean up the tank?

Yep, detritus eaters.

Oh, and dont touch with your bare hands.

That’s so crazy because when I was moving the rocks from the tote back into the tank I got stung but at the time I just figured I grabbed a pointy part of the rock. I’m never touching my rocks with my bare hands again lol I’m so creeped out haha

There’s a matching one in the rock next door, too. Aaaaagh
Yes, I'd be screaming too. I had to bust my rock open to remove one over 2 ft in length.

It stole my ricodea mushroom and had it half eaten in its burrow. I was .... angry enough to grab a hammer and a screw driver to kill that thing!

Omg I can imagine! Is there anything that eats them? Wrasse?

Not that i am aware of. That we can keep.
I believe some wrasses will eat them .
But to control their population reduce feedings

With more food available their population and length will increase .

I’ve read before larger ones can and will hunt slow or sleeping livestock but being scavengers I don’t know if I believe it .

Ok I will do that for sure. All I have are two clowns because I’m going super slow. So from now on, they don’t get to eat the whole cube lol

A simple google
Search suggests this screenshot .
But again .
I have always controlled their population by not over feeding the tank .
I’m sure some livestock I have would grab them if given the chance

Ok great! I will reduce feeding and look at getting a wrasse

Feed what’s being consumed in a short period of time .

I shouldn’t be admitting this openly but I feed my tank maybe once per week .
Most of my livestock are grazing fish such as tangs .
They can pick at the rocks and glass .
Clownfish , wrasse , trigger get to also pick off the rocks , and hunt for what we don’t see .
