What the heck is that?

Dang, I was hoping for a different answer lol Ok I will make a trap. So he will go in and not know how to get out?
The bait will draw it in and they can never figure how to get back out

While trying to figure out what my anenome is doing (apparently he’s pooping…) this thing came out from under the rock. He looked like a centipede or something! What is this mystical scary creature? Omg there’s two of them! One came out all the way and he’s about 6” long
I believe some wrasses will eat them .
But to control their population reduce feedings

With more food available their population and length will increase .

I’ve read before larger ones can and will hunt slow or sleeping livestock but being scavengers I don’t know if I believe it .
coral banded shrimps will fix your bristle worm problem

That worm could turn into a serious threat, corals will go missing, fish will go missing. It's a monster that needs to get removed begore it gets big enough to wreck havok.

It is a eunicid species and not a common bristleworm.

Edit: wrasse will not touch it.
Turns out you were very right, it’s not a bristle. It’s a Oenone Fulgita worm. Makes slime tunnels in and under the sand, and I’ve never seen him detach the back of his body from his rock, making for lightening fast retraction. He’s eaten every one of my snails, I have two crabs left, he’s injured my dwarf angel, eaten my green Chromis, and eaten my six-line. I’ve tried every trick in the book to catch him, including removing my rock scape, sifting through the sand, building traps. I have a new trap in there now made out of a 3/4” PVC pipe, a nylon stocking, bait, and a slip knot. Haha
It’s war.

@piscesgirl i am terribly sorry this worm has caused you so much damage. I was hoping I was over reacting and being rather irrational from my past experiances.

if you're solid on the id of this monster.

Do not touch with bare hands.

I have no advice on capture. Just ripping the tank apart to get the worm out.

I'm sorry :(

Thank you…yep, that’s the slimy devil. If this trap doesn’t work, I will tear the tank apart in the next week or so. Ugh. On the plus side, I learned how to make a slip knot haha

that's crazy, I hope you get it
Me too, the little fish are scared, mostly hiding. The bottom rock with the nem is its home, but I noticed a slimy tube going to the neighboring rock, so I’m trashing both of them. That nem is so surely planted into that rock, I have no idea how to get him off. His foot is inside of a hole in the rock, so it’s got to be a voluntary eviction. What do you suggest?
