Not good...they r a predatory worm...there was a post not too long ago about a reefer putting one in his sump.

The odds are he's just a scavenger is pretty good. I wouldn't tear about my tank to get him out if I wasn't having any issues.

Every time it sees me it vanishes like a feather duster blink of the eye gone!

Just teared my tank apart and dipped the rock in tap water to no avail

Anymore views?
If u can take that specific rock out and put it in a bucket overnight in a cold cold room or outside if it's cold enough. The water needs to be 35-50 degrees. The worm should crawl out and be dead by morning. If not find the hole it's living in if that possible. Just put a piece of shrimp in the bucket. I buy mine frozen at the grocery store. Watch the place it comes out of. Now go get Apitasia X and squirt a good amount in that hole. It should come wiggling out and looking like it's having a seizure. Remember that tweezers r your friend!!

If you know for sure which rock it's in, take it out. Set it in the sink to drip while you go outside and build a big bonfire. Toss the rock in the hottest bed of coals you can make. ;-)
Or, give it a bath in freshwater plus vinegar. I left mine overnight and had several worms hanging dead half out of their holes the next day.

I dont. Its not been seen since i plunged it in fresh water a few days ago. Saying that i had not seen it for the first 6 weeks my tank was set up

Good or bad that thing looks CREEPY ! Now just how big do they get?

Dude them things can reach up to 10' long or longer they eat fish and coral I wouldn't be able to even sleep at night with that thing in my tank.

Given how hard they are to catch, I wouldn't worry about it unless you know it is killing things or eating your coral. I think it is a super cool animal.
What will it survive off if its not eating fish or coral? Ive not seen it since this post

If you find the hole you can try pouring peroxide in it. I inadvertently learned that by pouring straight peroxide on a very stubborn algae ridden rock once. Within a minute of pouring the peroxide all over the rock, there were a bunch of bristleworms scrambling to get out of it.
