I cut my light down from 12 hrs to 3 did my weekly water change and sifted my sand and cleaned my filters and a toothbrush to the rock so let's see if that may work

This is not a one and done deal. you'll have to keep up with manual cleaning and water changes for a bit till you have a handle on it. Like I said, time and patience with a dash of perseverance.
