What to do

Do you think it would help to do a lights out for the next 3 days before I go? Also I have dosing some hydro peroxidebefore bed and when I get up in the morning. Not sure if this helps. Only doing minimal amount.

Sounds like you're doing too much and chasing numbers. I would leave it be and let your nutrients rise a little. You'll end up chasing your tail if you keep doing one thing right after another without waiting on the first thing to help

I personally would not dose peroxide except at a last resort. I also wouldn’t turn off the lights just yet.
You don’t want to do all these things then leave for a week.

Ok I appreciate the advice. My crabs seem to be eating the stuff pretty good. I hope it doesnt kill them while I’m gone and I come back to a bunch of dead crabs in my tank.

We will figure out exactly what’s going on when you get back. Crabs typically won’t touch Dino’s. Snails though are stupid!

My green emerald is living in it and eating good and my tiny blue leg hermits keep clearing small patches off. I don’t have enough to make a big dent in it.

Looks like my snails are still alive. One isn’t moving around a lot but they are alive. When I get home tonight I might do a siphon of some of the water through a filter sock to get some of it out then put the water back in. I heard don’t do any water changes while fighting this. Does this sound like a good idea?

Ok here is a update. I syphoned some of the water out throw a filter sock while trying to get some of the algae off. I think I need some more cleanup crew. I may go get some more tomorrow. I did a test of my parameters tonight.

Ph- 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 0
Ca 380
Kh 10
Phosphate 0
Temp 77
Salinity 35 ppm

I have been feeding my 4 fish twice a day pretty good with the protein skimmer off trying to get some nitrate and phosphate.

I have been switching out fresh filter socks everyday. Would it be out to leave the same filter sock in there for the week I’m gone or should I pull it out?

Bump. Just want to know if it’s ok to leave the same filter sock in while I’m away for a week.

Turn off your skimmer until your nutrient levels rise.

Dinos are not typically located on only one rock...they would be everywhere throughout the entire tank.

I have the skimmer off and I’m going to leave it off while I’m on vacation. I just want to know if it’s ok to leave the same filter sock in there the whole week.

Also old it be beneficial to add some more good beneficial bacteria to the tank? Like a bottle of bio spira

Ok here is an update now that I’m back. Algae is still bad but snails and crabs are eating it and it doesn’t seem to be coming back after they eat it. Here are my numbers after testing
Ammonia o
Nitrate 0
Ph 8
Ca 400
Kh 8
Phosphate maybe a trace
Salinity 1.025
