I’ve never been to a frag swap and plan on going to one later this month...I have no idea what to expect or what you do with your purchases while you browse. Do you walk around with coolers of frags? Are fish at frag swaps? Anything I should know? I’m all ears

They're alot of fun. You meet some really cool and interesting people :) as far as purchases I take a little bag cooler with me with some hand warmers (depended on time of year) and they're good in there for a couple of hours till you can get them home :) i use this one from brs. They were giving them free with orders over a certain amount awhile back. But anything similar would work great :)

Thanks crabs, good to know about the hand warmers! We’re getting 6” of snow tomorrow but the end of the month could be 65 degrees. Do you use the hand warmers as soon as you buy something or more for towards the end and the ride home?

They are very cool to go to. You'll enjoy the experience. Like @Crabs Mcjones said, bring a little cooler with you and cash!

Lot of times they have raffles for gear, I've won some cool stuff in the past, frag racks, gift cards......

When I do have to use them, I activate them around 10 to 15 minutes before I leave. Some hand warmers take a bit to warm up so I like to have them good and warm for when I step outside into Wisconsin weather ;)

It depends on how cold it is & how many purchases, and length of stay. In my area there are raffles, micro breweries, and conversation with friends. We all carry coolers around in the cold weather w/ heat packs wrapped w/ washcloths if you're going to buy. If it's an in & out, the pee cup most are put in will be fine in your coat pocket until you get home. Sometimes some sea stars, as we can't call them star fish anymore for PC police, are available. Hardly ever fish as it stressful enough for the coral with all the tank disturbances pointing to the one you want & the seller snatching it. Just my experiences though.
Edit: I think the vendors sponsor the breweries to come so we loosen up a bit & get out the plastic $!

I’m talking about the slash club swap later this month. Will you be going? Have you seen the vendor list anywhere? I’m so excited, even have the babysitter lined up already!

Oh yeah, I'm going. I use to belong to them some years ago, but never could attend their "pizza" nights because they have them on Thursdays. I get up very early for work each day during the week. Just didn't work out for me.

Elks Lodge again this year. It was at a brewery last year and I couldn't make it.

Let me look to see if they have the vendors list up. Jason fox was there the year before last.

I don't see a vendor list up.

@TriggerFinger, where are you out of?
I'm in Lake Saint Louis.

I couldn’t find one either. I live in Illinois, Fairview heights area.

Okay. Elks Lodge is down by telegraph and 255. Just before the river. I'll be the old guy with a reef2reef, "reefsquad" tee shirt on. Lol

It's a little place, but still fun to go to. They usually have close to 250-500 people in and out the doors. It can get a little packed. I like to wait till the end, it's the best time to buy and get a good price on coral.

Bring lots and lots of cash. And bring more cash just in case. Plus the cooler
The golden rule: Whats mine is mine and what his is mine *-}

I’ll be going too! Can’t wait!

Fantastic advice all over, thanks everyone! One more question...are these all high dollar items? I’m very new to this hobby so if it’s only high dollar stuff I’m not sure I can keep alive yet then I’ll have to wait until I have a little more experience under my belt.
