What to expect at a frag swap?

Still pumped, can’t wait! Most people’s eyes glaze over when I start talking about my fish tank. It will be nice to see people who understand how I feel ;Joyful

We get it!

Where can I get info on this? I'd like to go. Never been to a frag swap before.

If you are just getting going, socialize with other people there. You may find an experienced hobbyist that might live right around the corner from you or in the same neighborhood. Then you can get frags from them when they need to make room. My Lfs has introduced me to many people in my area at frag swaps, as we all are usually at one of the swaps at the same time, hardly ever in the store at the same time. Have fun. You will find some nice lps and softies. It'll be the higher end ones though. The vendors will be showing the corals under full blue for the best color, so if you don't keep a blue tank it will look different when it's in your tank. Another tip is to have your dip containers ready and when you get home get busy inspecting with a flashlight and magnifier.

I’ve never been to a frag swap and plan on going to one later this month...I have no idea what to expect or what you do with your purchases while you browse. Do you walk around with coolers of frags? Are fish at frag swaps? Anything I should know? I’m all ears
You can always put a ziplock bag of warm water in the cooler if you don't have hand warmers.
My advise is to go early and stay all day or go later and scoop up cheap frags. They don't want to repack and bring stiff back to the store. You may not get certain frags you are looking for that way but you can fill a tank cheap.
Raffles are great!

Don't be afraid to try and negotiate prices. In my experience, many sellers have higher prices at frag swaps than they do in their stores so they are willing to make deals.

Also, I find it helpful to do a quick walkthrough before making a purchase. Many times you'll have multiple sellers offering the same coral but at different prices.

I keep a Styrofoam box that I got from a LA/DD order in my suv all the time. Makes it easy if I happen to stop at a fishstore & see something I want.
