I was at the LFS and thought this was branching coralline algae. They said it was ogo macroalgae but can’t find anything on line that looks like it. They gave it to me for free but would like to know what it is

following :)

So red ogo that has lost color?
To me, it looks like it's Red OGO dried up and dead but I'm not sure. That could be the reason why the LFS gave it to you for free; otherwise, I can't find any other Macroalgae Ogos that look similar to the one in your picture.

post other picture here ;)

There are like two thin pieces a burgundy color macro single strand each from the center that feels softer in texture

Ogo turns white as it dies. Starts at the tips and breaks off as it dies off...I’ve tried multiple times to keep it. Can’t keep red macros alive!!
Is red ogo soft when it is alive and when it dies does it get hard and brittle like you can snap a piece off?
